In February 2016, Rachel discovered the drug VIMIZIM that has significantly improved her condition. VIMIZIM is the first and only FDA approved enzyme replacement treatment for MPS IVA or Morquio Syndrome - a disease so rare that the incidence rate is estimated at 1 in 300,000 live births.

For the past 20 years, Rachel's body has slowly deteriorated due to her condition, but with VIMIZIM, she can feel her energy returning. She is less short of breath and able to climb a few steps. Her joints are now coated by stronger tendon and muscles and her stomach is not as enlarged. Her biggest joy is that she is able to get out of her wheelchair and walk independently without support.
