About Event

"We went to a house in the village. They were very poor, but the host was clearly very happy and honored to receive us as his guests," brother Azim, Mercy Mission World CEO and Charity Right UK volunteer, sharing his experience when he traveled to visit Sudan recently. He continued, "As we were sitting, a local next to me said,

'He's going to slaughter a goat for you.'
I asked, 'How much is that going to cost him?'
'It's going to be about 120 dollars.'
'Well does he have the money?'
'No.'
'So how can he afford that?'
'He's going to pay off 10 dollars every month for the next 12 months.'"

Every year Muslims around the world offer a sacrifice of an animal to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s (pbuh) willingness to sacrifice his son for the sake of Allah (swt). The word Qurbani means sacrifice and leads to Eid-Al-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice which takes place during the 12th month of the Islamic calendar year Dhul-Hijjah.

Today, Muslims continue the act of sacrifice of an animal with the intention of getting closer to Allah, and as a reminder of Ibrahim’s sacrifice in the name of Allah. While it is an animal being sacrificed, ultimately Muslims are sacrificing their desires and that which they hold most dear out of piety to Allah.

WHY SUDAN?

Thousands of vulnerable men, women and children endure a daily struggle in refugee camps to find food and water. They live as refugees in Eastern Sudan, but they also live in fear of hunger. For 40 years they have suffered in silence.

Access to fresh meat is a luxury they never see. Many of these refugees have not eaten any type of meat in years. Their only access to meat comes once a year with Qurbani.

Charity Right asks you to remember the refugees in Sudan. We ask you to share your Qurbani with them.

WHY CHARITY RIGHT?

Charity Right is committed to fighting hunger, one person at a time. We have teams specifically work in some of the world’s hardest to reach areas that other charities don’t work in. We seek out vulnerable communities worse affected by hunger and alleviate their daily struggles through providing regular meals.

On Eid day, our team members will be on the ground distributing fresh meat to the neediest of families.

By donating your Qurbani through Charity Right you will ensure they can receive the gift of meat on Eid Day. You will be giving them their first taste of meat in a long time. And for some families, your Qurbani will be their first taste of meat ever.

You will be giving so many families in need a memorable gift. You will ensure parents can serve their children meat on Eid Day.
