A year and a half ago, I lost a good friend to sarcoma - tumours in the connective tissue. His generous heart inspired me to give back. I started growing my hair with a secret intention to one day realise the opportunity to do more for others. The initial idea was to donate my hair in support of children who've lost theirs because of the disease. But over time, the chance to give more and raise funds for organisations that support cancer patients and their families presented itself and I though - this is the time. I hope to create awareness about how cancer affects many lives - of those afflicted and those who care about them. And how we can all come together to support each other through pain and suffering. Life is beautiful, make every moment feel special. See you all on the mat. Big Love - Will This Chinese New Year, #YogaForAll gives back more. Join teacher Will as he raises awareness and donation for Maggie’s Centre, a multi-professional services center for people affected by cancer, by leading a free-flow vinyasa class to celebrate the Year of Pig. To add more, after the class, join him as he cuts of his locks and donate it to a non-profit organization. Its aim is to help people equip themselves with effective ways to face and cope with cancer diagnosis, treatments, and psychological, informational and emotional impacts of caner. Locks of Love is an organization that aspires to help every financially disadvantaged child, under the age of 21, suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centre provides free practical, emotional and psychosocial support for people with cancer and their families and friends.In addition to commemorating the third anniversary of the permanent Centre this March, I am celebrating my birthday as well as seven years as Centre Head of Maggie’s. For these years, I have helped and witnessed people live with, through and beyond cancer, and shared countless memories with the community. I love hiking and have left footprints on many mountains in Hong Kong but somehow never successfully ascended Pak Sin Leng despite trying twice in my teenage years. Understanding that my chronic knee problem is only getting worse, I hope to give one last shot and finally conquer the mountain with your support in March. To me, mountain hiking always has more to offer than just health benefits; it is the lesson that has kept me going through peaks and valleys in life.Thank you for sharing the vision of Maggie's by supporting me as I take on this hiking challenge on my birthday.
