Hong Kong is a culturally rich and diverse city, but it also means there are many ethnic minority groups who may be struggling to get by every day since being another ethnicity within Hong Kong may have its implications. With the pandemic slowly disappearing from parts of the world, it does not mean that it hasn't left its fair share of traces behind. Within Hong Kong, many ethnic minorities have suffered from this where it has been harder hard to find jobs, find access to necessities, masks etc. Or even students who are unable to keep up with their studies as even education has also heavily impacted their studies with the pandemic. However there is hope, the NGO HONG KONG Unison aims to demolish this inequality and support ethnic minority groups within Hong Kong, and aims to better their lives. ESF's international evening is a yearly event that brings students and members of our culturally diverse community together. Hosted by RCHK, this event brings together students all across international schools in Hong Kong, to put on spectacular shows showcasing their talents in order to represent their culture. This year the event is hosted on October the 28th online. We will be hosting a fundraiser along with this event where ALL proceeds will be going towards Unison Hong Kong and supporting their cause.Donate now and support Hong Kong Unison  and ESF's International evening today! :)

The numbers of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong have increased significantly over the past 10 years. This population is a sizeable and growing pool of talent with a diverse mix of cultural backgrounds adding multi-layered flavors to the fragrant harbor. However, being from an ethnic minority community in a largely homogenous population has its disadvantages and drawbacks that need to be addressed. The current pandemic has impacted ethnic minority communities quite hard. Especially children who are getting left behind in their studies as they lack the infrastructure at home - computers, internet access - to cope with the needs of online learning.  The NGO, HK-Unison, aims to take on these challenges and better the lives of ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. Every year, students from RCHK come together for the International Evening. This is an event celebrating the cultural diversity and international mindedness at RCHK through cultural performances by students, teachers, and parents. This celebratory evening has traditionally been used to raise funds to help HK-Unison in a small way to further its developmental work with ethnic minority communities. This year, we intend to continue this legacy and ensure that the show goes on, even if it is virtual amidst the challenging pandemic. We are now producing a virtual show that will be live-streamed on 8th Oct 2020, 6:00-7:30 pm with the aim to entertain our audience in the comfort of their homes with their families. Through the performances of our versatile students' teachers and parents, we will celebrate our cultural diversity and international mindedness as members of the ESF family. But, lest we forget, the event still needs to raise funds to help HK-Unison and this will be impossible without your support. So please donate and join us in the fun.
