Good day, everyone! My name is Isabelle Wong. I just turned 10 years old in November. Woo Hoo! I'm still not very smart in school. (My doctors told me it’s because I’m special, dyslexic and have talent elsewhere.) But I know I can help because God gave me a talent to cheer these elderlies up every time I visit and sing. So now that I’m a big girl now, I want to do something meaningful and I will be proud of. But I need your help on this mission. I have visited St John's Home through Cedar Primary School’s volunteering events. These grandpas and grandmas at the Home have been really nice and kind to me, with lots of life experiences to share. I think when people grow old, they should not be forgotten and forsaken. They should be helped by the society now that they are frail and too old to fend for themselves. I want to help them get more resource, so that they can get better medical aids. Your support no matter how small will be able to pay for food and medication. Help me reach my fundraising goal! Pre-Loved Books and Toys Carousel Sale My mother will also be helping me put some pre-loved books and Toys of mine which are of mint condition on sale at the Carousel. The proceeds from these will go into the donations. I will then finish off the campaign by planning for a Chinese New Year Celebration Visit to St John’s Home in February 2016.

St John's Home for Elderly Persons was founded in 1958 to provide shelter and care for the physical and spiritual needs of such elderly persons as have no home or suitable accommodation and no children or close relatives who have adequate resources for looking after them. Growing old can be scary. Feelings of loneliness and helplessness creep in. What more if one is homeless or is unable to stay with the family / relatives for some reason or other. Since its inception in 1958, St. John’s Home for Elderly Persons has not just been a physical shelter for the needy elderly, but a haven where elderly residents feel accepted, cared for, safe and happy. Sadly, the Home's lease will expire in 2015, and so has to construct a new building, estimated to cost S$12 million. As we celebrate the Home's 55th birthday this year, we appeal to you, to help us provide a sanctuary for the elderly to live out their golden years in comfort and dignity. No amount is too small.
