Helping refugees/refugee schools are important to me (Ely) because in December when me and my dad went to donate school supplies to ELOM the employees were telling us how they  needed a lot more supplies to give the students there a better education. They also told us that since the students there were refugees they did not have a passport, so they could not get a Visa. This led to the school having to pay the police so that they don’t take the students away from them and send them off, which would mean less refugees would have a chance of getting a job or progressing in life. Others should care about this cause because it happens all the time with refugee schools like ELOM, so if we don’t help out these schools will be able to teach less and less students. I want the donations we get to go toward getting all of the students the necessary supplies they need (notebooks , pens, pencils ,colored pencils, sticky notes, binders, folders/organizers, etc.).

This initiative aims to provide a short educational course to refugee students in Malaysia. The course will revolve around simple business skills, including the understanding of profit, cost and revenue, and the making of sellable products. Refugees in Malaysia do not get many opportunities to be a part of the workforce, often forced to work low-income jobs that can barely support a family. By donating to our cause, you can not only contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty faced by these families, but also help us instill business skills and values in the younger generation, building towards a brighter future for refugees.

We set up this cause for donations since there are dozens of animals and animal shelter owners suffering in the short of essential supplies and the actual hands to get involved in the work. In Malaysia, most of the animal shelters don't receive donations from the government regardless of how they need help. We thought that the first step to approach to our suffering neighbors is to consider and be responsible for their problems; therefore, we planned to donate to animals that need urgent help. After receiving a certain amount of donations, we will be able to provide necessary supplies for the animal shelter of our choice, PAWS. In Malaysia, there are not much shelters for animals, and the remaining shelters often take care of only dogs. We have chosen PAWS as it provides for both dogs and cats, and additionally the stray dogs. After donation, they are going to vaccinate those animals with safe medical kit and provide additional treatments if needed, not only feeding them. We are ambitiously looking forward to helping non-government supportive animal shelter by our student's passion. Thank you.

We want to raise money for "HEART Global". They are a non-profit organisation that leads music and performance workshops all over the world. They believe that arts education is important in the development of a person, and try to teach the value of inclusion, creativity, and teamwork. However, they are having less workshops now due to the lack of money. We want to support them so that they can continue their workshops.

My group wants to raise funds for TPEC. “What for?” You might ask. Well, while we’re still figuring out the specifics, we’re hoping to raise funds for groceries for the people at TPEC. The money that we raise for will be used to buy groceries (vegetables, rice, meat, etc) and others (cooking oil, milo, etc).We plan to run to generate money from our sponsors in order to support TPEC. It is important to us because we’re interested in the idea of helping others while setting goals for ourselves, and donations will go to funding refugee children’s needs.

Team: Jonathan, Ryota, Arsha, and June. We are all athletes that get overheated in this hot gym. We want fans in the gym to help everyone from the athletes to the fans watching to the teachers. Teachers! This is a win-win situation. Don’t you want kids coming from PE to not be drenched in sweat.

After much success with the entire secondary school last year during Run for a Cause, we raised over RM15,000 in less than a month. This year, the cause will be the same: running to raise money and provide yet another refugee school with free healthcare. In 2022, this service reached T-PEC. In 2023, we served at Warrior Bride and T-PEC. Heres the thing -- we aren't done yet! In 2024, we'll be partnering with Elom Refugee School. Last year all of the money we raised covered dental cleanings for 55 students and 90 fillings for cavities at T-PEC. Last fall, some of that same money even covered our health screenings at another refugee school called Warrior Bride. This year, with your help, we will be able to impact 70 more of our refugee friends here in Malaysia. Let us think outside of ourselves and set aside some time and donations to impact our community, nation, and world positively.

We want to donate money to help pay for costumes for the HS musical, The Wizard of Oz. There are quite a few chorus participants from MS, many costumes are needed. So it is expensive for middle school students. We want to help students pay for costumes so that they become more affordable for us all.

At Oasis International School, our read-a-thon is an opportunity for our students to impact their community and nation by raising money for charity based on the number of minutes they read. From December 1 - December 8, OIS elementary students read at home and at school. Their reading was sponsored by YOU! Thank you for encouraging our elementary students to not only read, but also to impact their community and nation. Without sponsors like you, this would not be a possibility. All donations will go to this year’s charities:1. T.A.S.K  An independent, all-volunteer organization that serves the homeless and hungry predominantly in the Klang Valley. They provide over 3,000 meals a week to the communities in need.2. Salvation ArmyAn organization that strives to meet the physical needs of the underprivileged in the community by providing basic necessities like food and clothing, residential homes, family support services, day cares, tuition centres, a refugee help centre and emergency relief services.3. The Peace Education CenterA non-profit, non-governmental organization based in downtown Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Their mission is to provide education, shelter, and a high standard of living for approximately 40 refugee children.

Malaysia is home to 134,550 thousand refugees, none of whom are able to receive government assistance, especially regarding healthcare. We believe that all children should have the resources to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. This is why we’ve started Bridge Healthcare, a project that aims to empower refugee children throughout KL by providing healthcare while fostering meaningful connections between international students and refugee students. Last year, Bridge Healthcare partnered with the Oasis Service-Learning Program, HOSA, health clinics, and dental practices to provide free healthcare for refugee children. In January of 2023, a team of students brought doctors and nurses to The Peace Education Center (T-PEC), a school for Chin refugees, and provided free health screenings. If health specialists spotted an issue, we were able to provide funding so the children could get further help from specialists. A couple months later, dental screenings were planned and every child at T-PEC was able to receive the care they needed. Whether it was 9 fillings or 5 extractions, every need they had was covered. All of this was made possible because of your generous donations, which provided the children with the opportunity to free healthcare. Here’s what the head of T-PEC has to say:“We would like to reach out to you to express our sincere gratitude and thanks. The kindness which you have extended to us was most helpful. The children, our community, and I are forever grateful and pray that you will be blessed more and more. Do keep up the good work in making a difference for the needy and thank you once again. May God’s richest blessings be upon you all!” —Victor Sanaung As this past partnership with T-PEC was a success, we plan on expanding and partnering with more refugee students across the city of Kuala Lumpur. But we can’t do it without YOUR help. So whether it's $10 or RM60, we are hoping that you would come alongside us once again and support Bridge Healthcare. Help us provide the most vulnerable children in Malaysia with the healthcare they deserve.
