Save the Children

Hi all  My name is Ryth Luangsidaxay and from Laos. Prudential Life Assurance Lao  is just over 1.5 years old and the youngest in the Prudential Corporate Asia family. I work in a very important department especially for a new setup, responsible for managing the Risk and Compliance of the Prudential Life Assurance Lao and have been with the company from Day 1. In the spirit of the event, I would like to share my humble experience with you. Few years ago, I was hired as a consultant for a NGO on a one week contract. Basically, my task was to perform English to Laos translation and vice versa for group discussions, interviews and summary of reports. We had to do surveys in some provinces and I was assigned to join a team in the northern region (Huaphan province). I had a great chance to visit many districts in Huaphan in north and found that natural beauty was alive and well there, great for sightseeing. Also, the local traditions in Huaphan Province was interesting and the people there still follow them. During my visit, it was an eye opener for me as I had the chance to see how they live their lives through extreme hardship. Some people lives without electricity, no access to clean water, no medical facilities available, little food and various other inconveniences that I took for granted. There was one village that my team and I visited, which is a Hmong village. Hmong is an ethic group in Laos. I can’t remember the village’s name but it took a long truck ride to reach there through treacherous mountainous roads.  Old people, young children and pregnant women in that village will have to travel far through an uncomfortable and unsafe journey just to get to the district hospitals for healthcare. This is a very high risk for them. Yet, the people there worked hard and lived their lives as well as they could. This really touched my heart as people in big cities often take things for granted and is always complaining about material things. This experience is still ingrained in my mind and heart. I believe one day if I’m lucky I will have chance help them. I’m here on behalf of Laotians who really need help to share this story to you and to the world. That’s why I decided to apply for PruRideLondon to raise funds. The funds raised will go towards supporting Save the Children’s “Primary Health Care Program” in Laos PDR’s Sayabouly Province. Under the programme, more than 1,000 healthcare workers and close to 900 community healthcare workers will be trained to provide healthcare services to around 45,000 children and 107,000 women of reproductive age in Sayabouly Province. To all my family, friends, colleagues and all Laotians, I will participate on behalf of my company, Prudential Life Assurance (Lao) Co. Ltd in a great event which will be held in London, England from 28-30 July 2017. This event is called PruRideLondon which is sponsored by Prudential plc. This event is held to raise charity and will involve participants from around the globe. I strongly believe that the program I’ve chosen and others like it will help to improve quality of people lives such as to provide training to healthcare workers and managers (e.g. midwives, nurses, doctors, health volunteers and administrators). It can improve and expand quality delivery of healthcare services, strengthen district health management and ensure robust systems are in place and improve access to healthcare facilities. It helps government to work with communities to solve chronic malnutrition. To make those things happen, I am writing this to ask for your support to raise the funds for the chosen program. I will cycle more than 160km from London to other locations in England to raise this funds and I will appreciate if you can help in my donation drive. Let’s improve the lives of poor Laotians together! Thank you.

I love cycling most of all because it gives me freedom. It's about being outside, the wind in your hair and the sights and sounds of life in the city or countryside doing bike packing/ touring as my yearly long ride activity. I'm also a bike to work advocate for two years already and  cycling has saved me so much time, and money. This time, it will be different.. I'll be representing Team Prudential to complete a 100 mile bike challenge that will take place on July 30, this year to raise funds for children.   Help me support Save The Children by making a donation. I truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause!Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page! About Save the Children:Save the Children is a global organization with 30 offices around the world working to deliver change for more than 166 million children in more than 120 countries.Save the Children Hong Kong works with local charity organizations in providing assistance in funding and activities planning for children in the community.Against Child Abuse (ACA)In collaboration with Against Child Abuse (ACA), a Parent-Child Support line was launched in 2012 to provide phone-in counseling and follow-up services for parents, and children, as well as front-line workers such as teachers, social workers, child care workers, etc. on handling suspected child abuse cases. The Support Line service could also provide immediate support to professionals who play an important role in child protection. In 2013 we extended the services hours (9am – 9pm Monday to Friday) to increase access to the hotline. As a result, calls were up by 35% to 1411 in 2013 (from 1044).  Of the 1,411 calls received, 428 calls (30%) were on suspected child abuse, 439 calls (31%) on parents with child management difficulties and the use of corporal punishment towards their children, 33 calls (2%) on other problems such as family violence and marital problems, and 511 calls (36%) on personal problems or service enquiries. There were 3,515 follow-up services in response to the 1,411 calls.  A total of 136 investigations for suspected child abuse cases and 1,352 home visits were conducted.  Subsequently, we referred 230 children and their families to governmental departments and other community support services for follow-up.  There were 10 multidisciplinary case conferences held for the serious child abuse cases.

When I was young about 6-7 years old. I need to ride a bicycle to anywhere. I rent a bicycle to practice riding it. I try until I can control it. I told my mother I would like to buy a bicycle and she bought a new one. That's a first time, I feel that I can go anyplace in the world. Now my thinking is truth, I will ride in England as a rider of Prudential ride London 2017 program. I'm very excite. However I have a mission that I want to request your corporation for this event. I invite to you to join donating for save the chikdren project by unlimited. My target is 300 USD and thank you everyone.

Hi,As a proud Dad of two healthy, happy and energetic children, I'm always amazed at what children are capable of and reminded how important they are to our future. Whilst living in Hong Kong we have been lucky enough to travel to many countries in the Asia region, and we usually get the chance to meet children along the way. Whilst the children are usually happy and smiling, it's obvious that most of them do not have even a fraction of the resources and opportunities available to my kids. Basic rights like a safe living environment, good health care and a nutritious diet are sadly missing. It's hard to see this and not be able to do something to help. But now I have the opportunity to help. Most of you will know that I have got myself fit over the past few years and now enjoy trail running. Always keen to take on a new challenge I'm moving from 2 legs to 2 wheels, and on Sunday 30th July this year I will - thanks to my employer Prudential - for the first time ever, take part in a cycle event. The 2017 Prudential RideLondon event is a 100 mile (!!) cycle race through the streets of London, down to Surrey and back to London – with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising money for charity. This is a massive challenge for someone who has never ridden a road bike before!! The beneficiary of this year's race is Save The Children. The money raised by Prudential Asia will go towards supporting Save The Children's Primary Health Care Programme in Laos PDR's Sayabouly Province. Under the programme, more than 1,000 healthcare workers and close to 900 community healthcare workers will be trained to provide healthcare services to around 45,000 children and 107,000 women of reproductive age in Sayabouly Province. Their aim is to close the gap on infant and child survival in Laos PDR.  I'm excited at the prospect of trying something new, of competing in this great race, and at having the opportunity to raise much needed funds for this worthwhile cause, which will literally make the difference between life and death for these vulnerable children. I'm hoping that you will show your support for me and for Save the Children by making a donation, using the "Donate Now" button below. Your support is very much appreciated by me and by everyone involved in this worthwhile programme. Thank you very much Scott Ps - if you are in London that weekend, please come and support me in personPPs - if you want to know how I got on in the race, I'll be sure to post it on Strava!!

Those who know me would know that Cindy and cycling do not go together. Cindy runs, Cindy does Muay Thai, Cindy plays softball, but Cindy does not cycle (at least not outside the gym). Cycling 100 miles scares me. Cycling 100 miles in a country outside of Singapore scares me even more. It is something that is outside my comfort zone, in an unfamiliar area, and I have no idea how many curveballs this journey will throw at me. But the uncertainties I face cannot be compared to the uncertainities that these beneficiaries face, and my comfort zone is far more comfortable than that of these people. Survivability becomes a question in an area where healthcare is not as developed as that of Singapore. Today, I made it my choice to break free of my personal boundaries, to help make a difference in the lives of 147,176 living in Sayabouly Province, Laos. Your contribution goes into improving healthcare in this area, save lives by improving chances of survivability of young children in this province, and help make their future more certain. At the end of the day, doing good cannot be measured by numbers. Any amount goes into making a big difference. Thank you for supporting me in this journey :)Love, CindyOur comfort zone is far more comfortable than that of these people.

Please help us raise fund for the children. For donations, please go to: https://www.simplygiving.com/let-s-share-our-blessings.

Hi my friends and colleagues, I will be riding the first 100-miles in my life in coming July. This will be a big challenge for me, but with the experience of 100-km hike/run in Oxfam Trailwalker three times in the past, I'm confident that my persistence will carry me through. All I need is your support and generous donation to Save The Children, so that my ride will be much more meaningful for a great cause! You have my heartful thanks for your support!!

Prudential RideLondon is one of the world’s greatest cycling events and now its fifth year. I am very happy to announce that I got a chance to participate in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 46 on Sunday 30 July, as a Team Prudential rider. This event will be one of my biggest challenges in recent years. I am a beginner at road bike and I’ve just started training on March. I am so excited that I can cycle at the city and countryside in London. As a part of the event, we will be expected to raise funds. The money will go toward supporting Save the Children. Many a little makes a mickle. Your support is key in reaching our goal. Thank you.

When I've learned of fundraising for children through cycling I did not hesitate to participate. Both are close to my heart. I love cycling for tremendous benefits it does to my wholistic being. I love kids and they remind me of simple joy and endless possibilities the future holds. A huge part of my life right now is a result of an educational foundation that helped me get through school. I am forever grateful for all the help that people grant on me, some i personally know while some are not. I believe everyone of us can do something for someone even when we do not know each other. And that's what makes life more meaningful and more purposeful. As the event comes closer and the training gets going, i can't help but get excited. With your generosity I am sure a lot of children will go a long way in life just like how you are living right now. This is going to be awesome!

Hi Guys, It's a DREAM come true for me to be able to participate at Prudential RideLondon representing Team Prudential Rider. This will definitely be one of the highlights of my life and it will be even more meaningful as I will able to contribute to underprivileged communities through Save the Children’s “Primary Health Care Programme” in Laos PDR’s Sayabouly Province. Under the programme, more than 1,000 healthcare workers and close to 900 community healthcare workers will be trained to provide healthcare services to around 45,000 children and 107,000 women of reproductive age in Sayabouly Province. I call upon your generosity to make a difference by empowering young people in Laos to bring about impactful change to their country’s healthcare services. With your contribution, a life will be changed or saved and the residents of Sayabouly Province will enjoy better access to basic healthcare services and be able to pursue their DREAMS for a better life. No amount is too small to make a difference in someone’s life. And not everyone is prominent but everyone is SIGNIFICANT!

Cycling is a new passion for me - a way for me to stay fit and at the same time enjoy fresh air and sunshine.  So when the opportunity came to cycle for a cause, I jumped at it.  This year, I am taking part in the 2017 Prudential RideLondon- Surrey 100,  a 100 mile cycling challenge that starts off in London, passing through iconic landmarks and out into the stunning English countryside and back to London.   Part of requirements of the race is to raise funds for "Save the Children", under its "Primary Health Care Programme".  I will be most grateful if you help join in the cause and contribute by clicking on "Donate Now" on the site, as I keep you updated on my training journey and exploits.  The challenge is on 30 July 2017, so wish me luck and donate!
