For the last 7 weeks I have been training everyday (in the intense heat and rain!) with a great group of Sai Kung ladies as part of the Angels for Orphans 8 week Fitness Challenge.  Our fantastic fitness trainer, Tim Stevens, has given up his time for 8 weeks to push us through this challenge with squat challenges, endless planking and bootcamps, and we feel fantastic!!   A big thanks to Angels for Orphans, Tim and my awesome team mates, Mariella Candela Amitai, Clare Benson, Caroline Stewart and Oliva Crooke. As much as it has been a personal challenge to achieve my fitness goal, it is all about fundraising for these amazing causes, Bali Kids and Sunrise Cambodia.   Please help by donating to Angels for Orphans via my Simply Giving page.

"The Real Angels" team are standing strong with Chief Angel; Suzanne Sadler, Wonder-woman; Wendy Cramond, Emilie Clairet  and Julia Perry. As volunteers for the organisation we really do have a good and clear understanding of what is needed to help the children of Bali Kids and Sunrise Cambodia. By signing up for this challenge we are not only getting healthy and stronger for ourselves but to help the children know that you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.  Bali Kids provides a medical outreach programme, taking vital healthcare and health education services to remote areas of the island. On average, some 600 children are treated and helped each month. They operate a 24 hour medical and dental clinic. This service eases the stress and fear sick and vulnerable children face when major surgery is required, with access provided to medical specialists who care for them at such a traumatic time.http://balikids.org/Sunrise Cambodia is a world-class charity working on the ground in Cambodia to give much-needed help to at-risk kids, struggling families and poor communities in some of the most poverty-stricken provinces of the country. http://sunrisecambodia.org.au/Our team has shown true grit and dedication already - working out-doors regardless of what the Hong Kong weather throws at us; sun, rain, intense heat and humidity! Oh and what ever our amazing fitness instructor Kin Ho throws at us, which normally is a medicine ball!"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." Robert Collier

Spurred on from last year's successes, a few Southside mums have grouped together to take part in this years Angels for Orphans Fitness Challenge with the aim of raising money for the charity whilst increasing overall fitness and having a bit if fun along the way.  Allie, Cathy, Molly, Monique and Nikki make up the Southside team and have been training hard with Tom Preston of EPT - Elite Personal Training (http://www.eliteptstudio.com) The main aim of this challenge is to raise awareness and money for the Angels for Orphans (www.angelsfororphans.co.uk) charity who will be putting the funds towards Bali Kids (www.balikids.org) and Sunrise (www.sunrisecambodia.org.au). Saturday 24th June will mark the last day of this eight week challenge where we are all determined to smash our times and scores for the plank, push-ups, wall squats, track run as well as the dreaded weigh in and measurement taking and beat the other teams taking part.We do understand that you may have charities that are closer to your heart, but any donation, however big or small will be gratefully received.  The money raised will make a difference to helping provide health and medical care to underprivileged children in Bali and renovate classrooms and provide learning material to disadvantaged children in Siam Reap in Cambodia . We thank you for your support.

All of us G, Ruth, Mel, Zoe, Louise, and Chantal over the next 6 weeks are putting a challenge out there to walk the steps it would take to get from Hong Kong to Siem Reap in total 2,016,544 steps. As a group of friends we are trying to inspire each other to live life, be healthy, have fun and hopefully help others less fortunate to strive for the same. Weekly we are united by our amazing trainer Kin who keeps us on the straight and narrow... most of the time. The reason we are walking to Cambodia is due to  Angels For Orphans which we are supporting by are trying to raise money for two charities, Bali Kids Indonesia - to provide health and medical care to underprivileged children and Sunrise, Siem Reap, Cambodia which is focusing on developing its educational programs and learning facilities. We hope that we can get the support from people to help us achieve our goal which in turn is to help children less lucky than those in our lives, to have the chance of a better future.

As you probably know, I am heavily involved as an "angel" with Angels For Orphans, and this is our second year running with the ANGELS FITNESS CHALLENGE!There are five of us in our team, with our dedicated trainer Tim Stevens who is giving up his time and yelling at us to get the best results we can in eight weeks. We are tested on planking, push-ups, running, wall sits/squats and general fitness at the beginning and end. This is NOT about you sponsoring me to exercise - not at all! It is about our friends giving what they can so the money goes straight to our two amazing beneficiaries - this is what we are dragging our butts around in 30 degree heat for! Please help us to make a success out of this again this year!A bit more info:At Angels For Orphans, we are a group of volunteers who work hard to raise funds and support four organisations, two of which are directly benefiting from this massive fundraising initiative - they are Bali Kids and Sunrise Cambodia. Last year we raised hundreds of thousands of dollars dedicated to anti-smoking campaigns in Indonesia, where kids as young as two years old are smoking incessantly. This year, not only will the funds go to Bali Kids, but also Sunrise Cambodia - which is very close to my heart - and I visit them frequently on my trips to Cambodia to our orphanages and schools there.Visit our Angels Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/ANGELS4ORPHANS.HK/

Last year I took part in an eight week Fitness Challenge to raise money for Angels For Orphans. This year, my team mates and I are back - and we're determined to top our achievements last year. We promise more sweat, more tears, more cursing on our quest for a fabulous six pack. We'll be squatting, lunging, crunching, planking, huffing, puffing and generally torturing our way to glorious, beautiful bods! Follow our progress through the weeks....

Dear Friends and Family,If exercising in Hong Kong in Summer can raise some much needed funds for underprivileged children in Cambodia and Bali, then I'll do it!!That's why I have signed up for this Fitness Challenge hosted by Angels for Orphans: once a week, for eight weeks, trainers donate their time and put us through the killer reps to increase our fitness levels. We have some friendly competition going on between the groups (Dayle's Team is the BEST!!!), and at the end we'll see which group has improved their fitness levels the most (Dayle's Team of course!!).And in between breathers, we are all setting up pages on the simplygiving site to raise some funds.I have traveled in both Cambodia and Bali before, and have found them to have some of friendliest people on this planet. But they are poor countries, so you can imagine orphanages and kids in rural areas don't get a lot of chances. Charities like Sunrise Cambodia and Bali Kids help these kids with health and education, and this Fitness Challenge is just a small part of their fund-raising efforts. Most of us live comfortable and healthy lives, so please, I implore you, open your hearts and your wallets, and help me raise some money for those children who cannot say the same.
