Emergency Medicine Department We are the Emergency Medicine Department of National University Hospital. Every day, we are involved in the business of saving lives and helping people get better. Be it a heart attack, a stroke, a major accident, a fishbone in the throat, an asthma attack, a fall, a fever and so on, we deal with all types of emergencies at all hours of the day or night. We are passionate about our intense and busy work and we want every one of our patients get better under our care.Aside from the passion for our work in Emergency care, many of us also have a love of sports and healthy living. On our days off, many of us often get together to run, hike, cycle or play sports together. It is a great way to destress from our high-adrenaline, intense and often emotional work caring for our patients. As such, from cycling and doing sports together, we decided to go a step further and raise awareness and funds for our needy patients. This year, our doctors and nurses from Emergency Medicine Department of NUH will be participating in OCBC Cycle to raise funds for NUHS Fund Limited, one of the beneficiary charities of OCBC Cycle. NUHS Fund Limited is a registered charity with IPC status that runs multiple programmes to help our NUH patients suffering from various medical conditions. These funds go towards their costs of medical treatments, including the costs of the recovery process. The charity was set up by NUHS to promote medical research and development as well as provide health related services for the benefit of the Singapore Community. A key objective is to address unmet gaps not covered by existing government and community assistance schemes and to assist patients who are determined to be in need of financial assistance with the costs of medical treatments, including the costs of the recovery process. NUHS Fund Limited relies on the support of benefactors and donors, and every dollar donated goes in its entirety to fund these unmet gaps faced by our beneficiaries and their families.
