This year Prudential riders will raise fund for Save the Children, an international independent organization of children.  Money raised by us will go towards benefitting its innovative early learning programme in Cambodia and Philippines.  For this, I sincerely seek for your sponsorship to this meaningful act for the next generation.  It is simple, please click “Donate Now” on this page. I'm taking the challenge with 2018 PrudentialRideLondon with a cause close to my heart. Funds raised will go towards benefitting the children and parents of First Read - Save the Children and Prudential’s innovative early learning programme in Cambodia and Philippines, supported by Prudence Foundation. With your help we can continue to: Train parents and caregivers in Cambodia and Philippines on the best techniques for engaging with their children Give children the books, skills and knowledge they need to fulfil their potential Influence local and national authorities in Cambodia and Philippines to continue to invest in Early Learning Every child has the right to reach their full potential. But in Cambodia and the Philippines some of the most deprived children are denied just that. Why? Because the early years of children lives are simply not getting the attention and investment they so desperately need.  We know a child’s early years are fundamental in determining their future life chances. Science tells us that the experiences, learning and development that happens very early on in children’s lives set up their brains for being able to learn in school and throughout life.  In Cambodia and the Philippines, less than a third of children have access to early childhood care and development services, with disastrous results for their education. Many children do not complete primary education and some leave school unable to read at all. Let's make this difference together.

It has been such a excellent opportunity for me to be part of the 2018 Prudential RiderLondon Pru Peloton Team. As a representative, I would like to share with you my feeling and story towards this meaningful event. As a Prudential StaffSince being a Prudential staff in 2013, I witnessed the company hosting and sponsoring numerous charitable activities, including building construction work in the Philippines and Indonesia, and also the Prudential RideLondon. With the encouragement of my fellow colleagues, who were the past participants of this event, I have decided to train up myself and to give my best effort in engaging in this event. As a Amateur CyclistCycling is always an enjoyable leisure activity in my life. I enjoy the scenery through travelling from one place to another, and the challenge that going uphill and downhill while being persistent to reach the destination. In September 2016, I joined a few colleagues from Prudential to carry out a 10-day round island cycling trip in Taiwan. Since then, long-distance cycling has always been in my top listed activity. As a FundraiserFund raising has never been easy. With my full commitment to this cycling event, I would invite all my colleagues and friends to support me.Your every bit of kindness counts!Beneficiary:  Funds raised will go towards benefitting the children and parents of First Read - Save the Children and Prudential’s innovative early learning programme in Cambodia and Philippines, supported by Prudence Foundation. My motivationMy motivation to participate in a 160km cycling challenge was part personal, part altruistic. A very infrequent rider who is highly pain-averse, I approached cycling with trepidation. This event appealed to me as a direct challenge to that irrational fear. That this also allows me to contribute directly to children who most need help sealed the deal. The training commitment is big, but like all endurance events, enjoying the journey is part of the achievement. In addition to general fitness and bike skills and endurance training, I am also committed to managing my personal demons on the road. Please support me by contributing generously to children whose opportunities are limited by their birth. Education is one of the only levelers for these families. Please join me in helping those who are unable to access the opportunities most of us have enjoyed. The Story of Save the Children:  Children in Cambodia and Philippines are born into some of the most impoverished conditions in the region. Less than a third of children have access to early childhood care and development services, with disastrous results for their education. Many children do not complete primary education and some leave school unable to read at all. The beneficiary, First Read, aims to help these families better their circumstances through literacy and education. Your donation will go towards creating opportunities for those who are unable to help themselves.   Education is the key out of the vicious cycle of poverty. Enable children born into circumstances they cannot control. Bring hope to families deprived of opportunity. Empower the next generation to achieve breakthroughs.   Beneficiary:  Funds raised will go towards benefitting the children and parents of First Read - Save the Children and Prudential’s innovative early learning programme in Cambodia and Philippines, supported by Prudence Foundation.   With your help we can continue to: Train parents and caregivers in Cambodia and Philippines on the best techniques for engaging with their children Give children the books, skills and knowledge they need to fulfil their potential Influence local and national authorities in Cambodia and Philippines to continue to invest in Early Learning   Programme’s Objectives: To ensure that pre-school children in the Philippines and Cambodia get the best start in life and help them stay in school to achieve their full potential Parents and caregivers are children’s first and best teachers. To all my friends, peers, associates, colleagues, fellow cyclists A thousand miles begin with a single step.  I am delighted to share with you Prudential RideLondon 2018, the world’s greatest festival of cycling will be taking place from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 July 2018. This year, the PRL is my set goal as I embarked the new challenge in the fifth edition of the sportive Prudential RideLondon-Surrey in July 2018.   Proud to say, the 100- miles sportive shall mark one of the most amazing achievements in my cycling journey with this incredible century ride abroad. I started as a newbie way back in 2015 with many learning curves, fun, tears, pain and a great opportunity to network with many cyclists from all over the town.  I reckoned this ride is going to be challenging even though I had been riding and undergo long distance touring.  It is definitely an honour for me to be riding in this world largest event as the ride not only giving back to society with contribution to “Save The Children” but it is inspiring way to stay fit that one should not missed. Are you with me to support this adventure?     For details, please visit web link https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/about-us/who-we-work-with/corporate-partners/prudence-foundation

Dear Readers and Patrons,                      Thank you for taking this time to support a most valued cause. Being a father of three, it is most important that I give my children the best education there is. I believe any parent would do anything to give just that. But alas, given this country’s economic challenges, many parents in the Philippines still struggle to find the means to access education for their children even at the most basic level. It is disheartening that I encounter abandoned children everyday on the streets scouring means to find food instead of scouring their hands into artworks and science experiments that only their imaginations can limit. I am ashamed when I see teenagers whose innocence is sold by their own mothers just to temporarily free themselves of poverty.  It is a fact dear readers and patrons, that inaccessibility to basic education is commonly rooted from poverty. It is a fact that around 2005, net enrollment rates at the elementary level had dropped to 84.4%. By mid-decade, elementary school drop-out rates had regressed at its lowest last seen in the 90’s. In 2008, achievement rates in basic education in the Philippines had fallen dramatically due to chronic underfunding. Net enrollment among children in elementary and secondary education has been dropping since 2005. (UNESCO, 2017) Through all of the adversaries in children’s education, it is also an empowering fact that WE be an instrument of change.  A change to create a more livable, hopeful and brighter future for children deprived of opportunity, deprived of love. I have been given this great opportunity to make a change and I am asking you, dear patrons, to help me be an instrument of change and support me for their future. With your donations, let us try to change children’s future and put them in classrooms. Create opportunities for them to unravel their imaginations and be the great minds of the next generation.        Background:  Every child has the right to reach their full potential. Dear friends and family,I am participating in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey in July 2018, where I will be racing 100 miles (160km) through London and Surrey - the route includes some testing hills as well as being challenging in length. I had hung up the bike since moving to Hong Kong almost 5 years ago, so hopping onto a bike and training properly for 160km will certainly not be a walk in the park. I have already started training towards the ride and will share some of my training pics as I go along.I am doing this to raise funds for Save the Children and Prudential’s innovative early learning programme in Cambodia and Philippines, supported by Prudence Foundation. With the programme we:• Train parents and caregivers in Cambodia and Philippines on the best techniques for engaging with their children• Give children the books, skills and knowledge they need to have a chance at a better future• Influence local and national authorities in Cambodia and Philippines to continue to invest in Early LearningDuring my years in Asia I have traveled extensively and have visited local communities and extended my help wherever I can; but so much more can be and should be done and I firmly believe in what Save the Children and Prudence Foundation are doing in the area. More details can be found below and on their website:Background:Every child has the right to reach their full potential.
