My Story
And what better opportunity for fundraising than a big challenge? I would like to raise funds for a meaningful charity doing a really important job in our city, Mind HK.
The reason I chose Mind HK is that mental health has a very strong meaning for me. I learnt the lesson the hard way years ago, when I suddenly had to bid farewell to my sister and close buddy Anaïs. She sang really well, had a lot of big dreams and made pretty bad jokes where she would be the only one laughing with her oh so peculiar laugh. She also struggled with depression for years and finally lost the battle at the age of 19. At the time, we were not able to put a name on what she was facing and couldn't help her make a stand.
A bit more about Mind HK: it's a mental health initiative ensuring that everyone in HK struggling with mental health issues has the recognition, support and respect they need to make the best recovery possible.
1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem in our lifetime. Mind HK's key mission is to destigmatise mental health and improve attitudes and awareness to make sure everyone experiencing a mental health challenge has access to appropriate help in HK.
As well as providing a wide range of online resources in English and Chinese, a team of clinical professionals regularly delivers training programmes, including Mental Health First Aid, to the public, companies, non-profits and schools.
Friends, family, please help me support the essential work Mind HK does, so that nobody is left to face mental health struggles on their own. Let's spread the love!
