In China, roughly 1 in 600 children is born with a cleft lip, cleft palate, or perhaps even both. Many families cannot afford proper medical treatment, and their children face a lifetime of social and physical hardship. Fortunately, a one-hour surgery can change all this.
Operation Smile – China Medical Mission (OSCMM) and its volunteers provide free reconstructive surgery to repair cleft lips and cleft palates. Since 1991, we have helped over 22,000 needy children and young adults across China regain their smiles and self-confidence to lead healthy, normal lives.
