About Event

Making a difference for a rare disease

As many of you know, Amaury, from the European section, is very unwell.  Amaury has been diagnosed with histiocytosis.

Histiocytosis is an umbrella term applied to a group of rare diseases.  These diseases lead to increased numbers of certain types of white blood cells in the blood and tissues.  These cells begin to attack the body, targeting many organs including the bone marrow, liver, spleen, lungs and brain.  There are many different types of these rare diseases, and Amaury has an extremely rare variant.

As the GEMBA15 family we would like to come together to raise money for a charity supporting histiocytosis.

The Association Histiocytose France provides support to people suffering from histiocytosis, and their families as well as committing funds for research into histiocytosis.  We specifically chose France, because it is where Amaury is being treated, and is the home of one our campuses.  The money we raise through our campaign will be directed towards research to help understand and therefore better treat this group of rare diseases.
