For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to International Care Ministries. With everything going on I would like to take this chance for my birthday to do a little good to the people who struggling to survive in extreme poverty on incomes below US$1.25 per day in philippines. According to their website, $10 (Php 500) can provide 250 Meals! and since my birthday is on 3/29 I made my goal $329 and together we can provide 8,000 meals to people who need it the most! We will be taking part in the Pocari Sweat Run Carnival on Dec 30, 2018 and would love some sponsorship encouragement to help us on our way. Any support will be going to ICM (International Care Ministries), an organisation focuses on helping families living in ultra poverty – those who live on less than US$0.50 per person per day. ICM has been providing help, hope and change to impoverished families. We look forward to a day when no child has to live in ultra poverty & you can be part of it to make a huge difference. My sister Donna was strong, a leader and protector of those she cherished. She loved my children, her family, and friends with depth and passion. Like our late father, Donna supported programs across the globe, mission trips, constructed churches, homes, clothed orphans, and fed an estimated 1,500 people after Typhoon Haiyan devastated the Philippines.After Donna's unexpected passing in 2015, many of you partnered with us and ICM to memorialize her by sponsoring a kindergarten, medical operations, and health and livelihood programs for the ultrapoor in the Philippines. Thanks to your generosity, Donna’s impact has multiplied- in the past year, we impacted 29 young children, sponsored 17 surgeries, and changed the lives of over 2,000 family members. This year, our hope is to continue to carry on Donna’s legacy of service. Our goal is to impact 90 children by giving them access to early childhood education, changing the trajectory of 1,200 family members, and providing life- changing surgery for 31 children. You might not have known Donna, but meeting her would have changed you- her compassion and care for the marginalized would have resonated with you and would have made you want to do something. This year, in honor of her legacy, we are sponsoring early childhood education programs in the Philippines and helping provide life- changing surgeries to those who need it most, and we would like to invite you to join us! To show our support and contribution, 5 very fit cycling friends and 1 battler (you can guess who) will do a charity bike ride in Philippines in support Caremin’s disaster fund. CAREMIN has a deep understanding of the area given their 21-year presence with 300 local staff on-site taking care of the poor, with a long term focus on community building. They’re raising a disaster fund to provide aid (rice, water, soap, medicine)to fulfill immediate needs. We’ll ride weekend of Nov 30th - Dec 1st and try to cover 573km over 2 days (which might mean I will be on the saddle 24/7), through the mountains, which is the distance from Manila to Tacloban. Aron Akesson-Spielberg will be producing a short film on our efforts and a map over the ride done. Expenses are all covered personally by us so all donations go directly to the charity. Hello!! Thank you for checking out this page. I know it will surprise you on what I am going to do now. Yep.... I am going to challenge myself to the Greatwall Half Marathon this May on 18th. Be honest, I have just started my running hobby for less than 3 months but have already attended a few 10km run races. Those races were fun and good experience especially with a bunch of friends running. And now the Greatwall run is completely a new experience and a difficult task to me. However, this time running with another 2 great friends and for charity purpose, I have no reason to say NO, right? :p Each member of our team has the goal of raising HK$24,000 to ship nutritious rice packs from the United States to the Philippines. (The nutritious rice packs actually help all of ICM's programs because each of ICM’s education, feeding, and medical programs use the rice packs to provide meals to the poorest families in the Philippines.) One container of food will provide over 272,000 meals to impoverished children and their families - three containers will provide over 816,000 meals. It would be great to have your support to this meaningful run and those children and poor families in Philippines need your help as well. Hi there! Thank you for checking out this site... that means you may be interested! I've never fund-raised for anything in my life before, but I figure this may be a new experience. Why do people give money to a charity while I get in shape and do something fun? Beats me, but apparently that's what people do AND i like the idea. :P Since I've moved to Beijing, what better way to experience the Great Wall, than to run on it...with two wonderful friends? And to make things even more exciting, we decided to fund-raise for ICM (http://www.caremin.com/). Each member of our team has a goal of raising 24,000HKD (roughly 3,000USD), the cost of shipping a container. This shipping container will contain 272,000 nutritious rice packs from the United States to the Philippines. Three containers (us 3 runners) will provide 816,000 meals. On June 24, 2012, I will be taking on the 5i50 Olympic Distance Triathlon in Subic Bay, Philippines (http://5150philippines.com/) to benefit International Care Ministries' Malnourished Children Outreach (MCO) program. I have set a goal to raise HK$51,500 -- that is, HK$1,000 for every kilometer that I will race and finish. It costs HK$1,000 to feed one malnourished child for four months, so every kilometer I conquer will pave the way for one malnourished child's journey towards a healthier life. ICM partners with local government officials to identify fifteen severely underweight children in each community and provides them with a nutritious meal each day. At the end of four months, two-thirds of these children will have increased their weight by at least 15%, the threshold recommended by UNICEF.
