Fundraising for:
New Life Foundation

Hi, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. On November 25th 2012 I will be doing the WUA WALK ("wua" means cow Thai), a sponsored 10km walk/jog/run/hop/skip in aid of the New Life Foundation's first annual Full Moon Fundraising Event, Mindful for the MOOn! This year the money raised will be used to buy and cover the initial outlay for a dairy cow. Her milk will be made into butter, cheese, and yoghurt, etc. to help further the foundation's goal to create an organic farm that will offer the New Life community nutritious food and become a learning center for all those interested in sharing innovative, large-scale, eco-friendly farming techniques. The event will be held on the 25th November 2012, close to Loi Krathong, Thailand's full moon festival, a time when many Thai people float candles on small banana leaf rafts to venerate the Buddha and symbolize the letting go of all one's resentments, anger, and harmful behaviors (or "unskillful states of mind"), in order to start life anew -- fitting for an organization that brings healing and mindfulness to those who suffer from addiction, depression, burnout, and stress. Based in Chiang Rai, Thailand, the New Life Foundation provides a unique learning environment based on mindfulness and sustainable living, where residents can learn to nurture and maintain their recovery. They help residents cultivate a lifestyle that fosters inner growth and helps them find meaning and purpose in life again. In the effort to make recovery accessible to everyone in need, New Life tries to keep fees to a minimum. With the help of volunteers from around the world, meditation, yoga, art therapy and various other programs are offered to residents at a very affordable price, so that money doesn't stand in the way of recovery. However, to continue working in this way, New Life depends on the generosity of people like you and me. You can learn more about this truly incredible organization by visiting the link to their page on the left or their website at www.newlifethaifoundation.com. To kick start the Wua Project a separate COW NOW fundraising drive raised 17,426 Thai Baht in just four days. However, in order to pay for the whole cow as well as a shed, fencing, hay, and any vet's fees, etc, New Life needs an additional 85,000 Thai Baht (about 2,800 US Dollars / 1,720 GB Pounds). To help reach this target I have set a personal goal to raise 2,000 THB and would love it if you would join me in supporting New Life's work by giving whatever you can. If you would like to sponsor me you can make safe and secure donations through PayPal or by credit card (in Thai Baht) by clicking on the "Donate Now" icon above. Using this platform is really simple. Please feel free to also share my page with friends, voice encouragement, or even join me and get involved yourself! The proceeds of your support will immediately be sent to the New Life Foundation and used entirely to fund the Wua Project. (N.B. Any extra funds raised will be used to fund other parts of the New Life program but if you would prefer your donation to be reserved solely for this project, please indicate this in the comments section.) To make the donation maths easy 100USD = approx. 3000THB, 50USD = approx.1500THB, and 5USD = approx.150THB / 50GBP = approx. 2,470THB, 25 GBP = approx. 1235THB, and 5GBP = approx. 247THB. Remember that in Thailand even a small donation can go a long way so please dig deep and give what you can. Every little bit counts! Love from Chiang Rai, Anne Rok

YO! I'm volunteering at New Life Thai Foundation (http://www.newlifethaifoundation.com) in Chiang Rai. It is an international recovery community for people who are suffering because of addiction problems, depression, stress, burnout, relationship issues or abuse. We're trying to raise money to buy a cow! Milk for cheese and yoghurt! There will be a fundraiser on Nov 25, this Sunday. Its the "Wua Walk" (Wua is Thai for cow), a 10 km run in hopes of raising some chedda! I'm going to be running, setting a personal goal of 50 mins. You can help by sponsoring me with a donation. I'm trying to raise 5000 baht (about $160). My time here at New Life has been amazing so far. Its a wonderful community of residents and volunteers, all working together to create a healing, peaceful, and self-sustaining community. My volunteer work has been mostly on a mud adobe house so far. It is a prototype, and can hopefully be used as a model for more in the future. Please help by donating if you can. Thanks much to everybody! Hugs and Kisses Tri$$ionaire

Hi Friend! Lieve Vriend! I am going to help buy a milk cow for the New Life Foundation in Chiangrai (http://www.newlifethaifoundation.com/) because these guys want yoghurt, cheese and some milk for the cat too (meow!) Please give whatever you can (wishes, metta, dough) but I set the (milk) bar quite high. The (cow) pie in the sky is the limit. I will have to walk 10 km around some lake in the jungle for this so I need all the help I can get, It would be awfully nice to make it work, Love, Jan Jan Glorieux

New Life Foundation

Hi, thanks for visiting my personal Wua Walk fundraising page! At New Life Foundation we are running a 10k to raise 85,000 THB for two milk cows for the foundation. Our goal is to become entirely self-sufficient and we cannot do so without producing our own milk. By having a steady source of dairy we will save money that can be used to sponsor residents and create new workshops! The majority of grocery store milk has been produced by cows in factory farms. The life of a cow in a factory farm is short and miserable. Factory farmed cows, even just milk cows, are trapped, terrorized, and pumped full of unnatural hormones. Every time we buy this milk from the grocery store we are contributing to wide-spread animal cruelty. At New Life Foundation we will raise our two cows with the care and love of a family pet, ensuring their comfort and our own nutrition in symbiotic harmony. Through simplygiving.com you can make safe and secure donations to sponsor me. The proceeds of your support are immediately sent directly to my charity. Using this given platform is really simple and most importantly it's also a really cost efficient way for the charity to raise funds. My page allows you to follow my progress; share it with friends; voice encouragement or even join me and get involved yourself! I will be taking part in Mindful for the MOOn on 25/11/2012 and aiming to raise money for New Life Foundation Please dig deep and donate, every little bit counts! Mickey :)

I am taking part in Mindful for the MOON in advance of the actual date of 25/11/2012 as I will be moving to the next location. Nevertheless, the next best solution is to do it by installments and at times ahead of the actual date. This effort is to contribute towards the efforts to raise fund for New Life Foundation to start a pilot dairy farm for the community. Kindly check back to tis website for its progress. Please dig deep and donate, every little counts! It is with deep appreciation you can do this to help this community to assist people in their recovery journey and move on with their life with a renewed vigor no matter the obstacles they face. New Life Foundation

I've been volunteering at New Life Foundation in Chiang Rai Thailand. New Life is a low cost mindfulness based recovery center for people from all over the world suffering from addiction, abuse, stress, and other psychological problems. It is a tremendously effective and beautiful program, based on Buddhist philosophy, sustainable living, organic agriculture, yoga and meditation. Right now we are raising funds to buy a dairy cow, in another step to make our food sources more sustainable and ethical. I'm taking part in a 10 k run to raise 85,000 baht to buy our first lady cow and her essentials. Thanks to everyone that has helped support this so far I have set a new goal of 10,000 Thai Baht, which is about 330 USD. Can you donate a few dollars to support this good cause? One dollar goes much further in Thailand than at home. We are doing the donations through Simplygiving.com, which is a very secure site. It feels good to help a beautiful thing prosper. Thank you everyone.

New Life Foundation

(scroll down for Dutch) Hey everyone! As most of you know I'm volunteering for the New Life Foundation in the north of Thailand. Now to be more self-sustainable we are in need of a dairy cow. To supply milk and yoghurt for our breakfast. And in the long run (pun intended) CHEESE to satisfy the cravings of us Westerners, you Dutchies will understand (there is no cheese in Thailand!). So we organized a fundraising event to raise money for the cow, the grass, the fencing and the cows home. We still need to raise about 85.000 Thai Baht. And this will be happening through a sponsered run, called the WUA Walk (wua means cow in Thai). Now I'm not a runner. You know! But I started training by running around the lake and surpized myself by actully running 2,5 kilometers the first time. I'll try and built it up slowly and aim to run at least 5 of the 10 kilometres of the actual run. So I ask you to sponsor me! You can choose to sponsor me for every kilometre I run, or just make a donation to help me reach my goal. Just remember that I'll be running my ass of to support the Foundation and all you have to do is support me supporting the Foundation! Every little bit helps! Thank you so very much! Much love Ada ****** UPDATE ****** First of all, thanks you guys for being so eager to supporting me. The rest will just have to follow... You're Awesome (yes capital 'A') Did my fourth practice run yesterday (November 15), it took a lot of persistance and determination but I did make it twice around the lake! That's the first 5 km. If I can keep that up I'll be happy, if I can push it to 7,5 I'll be proud! *******UPDATE #2*********** Good and bad news, let's start with the good news. Bought a watch the other day so I can time myself. Then had a shit run on Sunday (only made it once around the lake) but that drove me to make up for it on Monday morning which I totally did with the 5km in 31 minutes! It feels so good surprising yourself. The bad news though is that I sprained my ankle doing that. So there's no training for the moment. Keep my fingers crossed that I'll be better on Sunday. But one way or another during my stay here I WILL make those 10 km! *********UPDATE #3********** After a couple or frustrating days without any training, fearing that my ankle would still hurt so that I wouldn't be able to participate. Saturday, the day before the run, the pain and with that my mood cleared up! Sunday at 5 o'clock in the morning, I felt like a ball of energy, ready to run. Probably caused by the amount of coffee running through my system though. After a bad,bad start with casualty the decision was made to continue anyway. I made it once around the lake, to the end of the road, on the way back about 6 km into the run my ankle hurts. With the return of the pain, frustration and disappointment came back with it. All I could do was accept. The accepting was made possible with the knowledge of being here until the 13th of December. There is time to resume training and run those kilometers before I leave. That also means that you can still support me and the Foundation. And I'll let you know when I made it! I made it, it is done! 1 HOUR AND 21 MINUTES! Hey iedereen! Ongeveer 6 km onderweg. Pijn in mijn enkel.

ON SUNDAY MORNING at 6:30 am (!) I’ll walk 10 km around the nearby lake. This year I won’t be home for my birthday or Christmas – I’ll be staying and working here at New Life as a volunteer. Instead of sending expensive cards or parcels or buying me a drink please press the red button “Donate Now” on the top right and start donating. If anyone wants me to DANCE around the lake in my belly dancing costume (and see photos of it) simply donate the FULL amount of my fundraising target which is 2000 THB (£40)  But even a small donation can go a long way in Thailand so please give whatever you can. Every little helps and is very much appreciated! Thank you so much for your support! Dankeschoen! New Life Foundation

Hello! I am taking part in a 10 K run to raise funds for buying a dairy cow at the New Life Foundation, a mindfulness based low cost recovery community in northern Thailand. This Foundation provides an incredibly effective and beautiful program, based on Buddhist philosophy, vibrant physical health, and sustainable living. The foundation hosts a wide variety of people from all kinds of means because of it's extremely low cost. New Life is working towards feeding our members entirely off of the land, but right now all of our protein sources are bought from outside, increasing costs and decreasing the sustainability of the program. So on November 25, we will be holding a run to raise 85,000 baht (approximately 2,833 USD). This will include buying our lovely lady cow, fencing materials, and initial veterinary care. Caring for her, and the daily milkings will be a shared part of the community work for the residents and volunteers here, and will become another healing mindful activity for people in recovery. We are doing our fundraising through Simplygiving.com since it such a safe, secure, and cost effective way of raising funds. It is tried and tested, and very safe. Can you help by donating a few dollars towards this cause? I have a goal set of 600 baht, approximately 20 USD. Thanks for reading, thanks even more for donating a few dollars. It goes a long way in Thailand, and your gift will be given many times over.

To help reach this target I have set a personal goal to raise 10,000 THB and would love it if you would join me in supporting New Life's work by giving whatever you can. Love and kindness from Chiang Rai, Julien Gryp

Fundraising for:
New Life Foundation

Hi, thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page. On November 25th 2012 I will be doing the WUA WALK ("wua" means cow Thai), a sponsored 10km run in aid of the New Life Foundation's first annual Full Moon Fundraising Event, Mindful for the MOOn!
