Dear friends,This December I will run my first 10K race, at the historic Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia. While I don't consider myself to be a runner, I am excited to take part in this race as it raises money for victims of landmines who have lost their limbs and livelihoods to remnants of war. Fees for the race will go towards providing them with prosthetic limbs, social reintegration programs, and other relevant programs for education and HIV/AIDs prevention.  To double my impact, I have decided to also raise money for a local animal welfare non-profit organization here in Phnom Penh, Animal Rescue Cambodia. Since I moved to Cambodia in August, I have been devastated to see the prevalence of stray, diseased, malnourished animals roaming the streets. This is not unusual in parts of the world where animal welfare ranks secondary to issues surrounding human health, poverty, and education. Animal Rescue Cambodia seeks to improve animal welfare and end the dog meat trade in Cambodia through outreach and neutering programs. The shelter also temporarily houses animals, like the 39 cats recently rescued from a pagoda, and works to find foster and permanent homes for the animals. As with other causes I support, I am attracted to this organization's sustainable approach, as outlined by its mission statement below. I hope you will support me in helping to end the dog meat trade in Cambodia. I found out about Animal Rescue Cambodia just over a year ago. Being an animal lover myself, I'm so, so grateful for all the work they do. Animal Rescue Cambodia dedicate their lives to prevent the suffering of street animals here in Cambodia, but just as important to them, is to educate the locals in animal welfare for a better future for everyone. I'm so happy to say that Animal Rescue Cambodia have joined forces with the Angkor Wat International Half marathon!So here is my chance to raise money to help their cause.Please help me to support them! I'm going to run the 21km (half marathon)... something I've never achieved before... So ANY, ANY donation...really doesn't matter how much...would be warmly welcomed.Woof Woof and Meaooooow Thank you

Hi everyone! Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.On December 2nd, I  will be running in the Angkor Wat  Intl Half Marathon event through some of the most iconic temples in the world! I'm doing this for a cause that is very close to my heart and I hope you'll support me...I will be running for the animals suffering on the streets with all funds going to an amazing organisation - Animal Rescue Cambodia.It’s difficult to explain what animals go through in Cambodia to people who haven’t been to this part of the world and it has been so shocking to see it for myself the past few months. This is a place where strays are everywhere you look, there are absolutely no animal welfare laws, dogs & cats are snatched off the street for meat and many are abused. It’s been very upsetting seeing animals on the brink of death but also so fulfilling to work with the team at ARC to get these animals back to good health and to find them loving forever homes. Check out their website  (www.ar-cambodia.com) see all of the incredible work they do and if you have a dollar or two, please please donate! Every cent fundraised will go towards neutering/spaying, outreach in local communities/pagodas and education & training for local vets.
