My Story

Good day! I'm Neo Jia Wen, a 21 years old Food Science student from Taylor's University. Here I am volunteering in the Here For You, a Cancer Awareness project with AIESEC in Taylor's University to raise funds for the National Cancer Society Malaysia. As having family members who were affected by cancer, I realized the importance of spreading awareness on cancer and the significance of undergoing early cancer screening. This is mainly why I decided to step out of my comfort zone and volunteer as a fundraiser. 

What is AIESEC?

AIESEC is an international youth-run, non-governmental and not-for-profit organization that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural internships, and global volunteer exchange experiences. The organization focuses on empowering young people to make a progressive social impact.

Who is the National Cancer Society Malaysia?

The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (Persatuan Kanser Kebangsaan Malaysia), (NCSM), is the first not-for-profit cancer organisation in Malaysia that provides education, care and support services for people affected by cancer and the general public.
The services provided by NCSM include:
  1. CARE - Providing ‘a home away from home’ for underprivileged child cancer patients – and their caregivers from outside of Kuala Lumpur.
  2. EDUCATION - Reaching out to the underprivileged communities and educate them on cancer prevention and early detection.
  3. SUPPORT - providing highly subsidised screening for the public and free screening for the underprivileged, support and cancer information to patients, survivors, caregivers, and the public.

Why do you help?

By supporting this campaign you are helping NCSM to continue their operation and the cancer children's families to reduce their burden, as well as to provide education, care and support services for people affected by cancer. Throughout the four weeks, I aim to raise a minimum amount of RM 600 to support NCSM in their efforts of assisting the Malaysian community affected by cancer.

Furthermore, by having 30% of the fund, AIESEC in Taylor's University is able to continue the sustainability of this project to continue our semiannual initiative to raise awareness on cancer.
