My Story

We are a team of 10 students from Sunway College who is helping one of our local NGOs, PAWS Animal Welfare Society, through our objectives:

1. Help strays to find a forever home.

As much as PAWS can provide strays a shelter for protection, there is a limit of space to accommodate unwanted animals. When the shelter is full, it will be difficult for the organisation to treat and take in more unwanted animals. Therefore, the best solution for them to keep fighting for strays is to put animals up for adoption in hope to find them an owner and a safe space called home through the digital media platform we created which is able to share the profile of animals to catch the attention of the public. Besides, adoption of animals is the best way to save lives as well as fighting against puppy mills.

2. Raise funds to help PAWS continue to fight for strays.

PAWS organisation that runs its operation independently off of generous  donations from the public. Therefore, the resources are very limited. As the number of strays has never ceased to decrease but rapidly increase, the amount of money spent on food supply, medical fees as well as shelter has far exceeded the amount of money the organisation received from the public. Hence facing challenges such as preventing animals from suffering the brunt of starvation, aiding serious wounded animals from the streets and giving them a shelter. For that reason, it would be ideal to get the attention of the public for donations in order to raise funds for them to ensure the growth of the PAWS.

3. Raise awareness of animals’ abandonment cases through social media platform

Animals’ abandonment issue is always the core problem of increasing strays. As the COVID 19 outbreak causes a global pandemic and forces many countries into lock down. The number of unwanted animals’ cases has skyrocketed due to panic-stricken owners’ fear that household pets possessed the ability to transmit the virus. The root of the issue is that owners very often do not have the knowledge and ability to raise animals and in the end,  they would choose to abandon them. On account of this, we wanted to educate and raise awareness of animals’ abandonment issues to the public through social media platforms in hope to teach generations to know their responsibility as a pet owner and as a human being.

4. Be the voice of strays and share their story to encourage people to stand up for animals

Every now and then, we will come across incidents that are related to stray animals which will often spark outcry across the world. Unlike humans, animals can only do so little to defend themselves as they do not speak our languages and cannot express their feelings well compared to humans, but they possess just as much emotions as us. Animal cruelty and domestic violence are happening around the globe. In order to put a stop at these insensible acts, the public hold the keys to solve these problems in regard to stray animal problems. We wanted to encourage the public to stand up against any animal cruelty and show more compassion towards stray animals by sharing the background stories of stray animals through social media platform.

100% of funds raised be proceed to PAWS Animal Welfare Society
