It is my dream to study in US to become a nurse. I started to
apply and have already been accept to a nursing program in the US. I
graduated in 1990 from the National Taiwan University in Taipei Taiwan in 1990 with
a Bachelor of Science in nursing and worked in Cathay Hospital, Taiwan, for
about 8 months in the neurosurgical department.
In 1991, I felt called
to do mission work in Asia. The following year, I joined full time service with
Malaysia Campus Crusade for Christ and was sent to be trained for a year at
Taiwan Great Commission Training Center. Thereafter, I flew back to Malaysia to
start ministry. I served among the campus students training them in
discipleship and making a difference in their sphere of influence from 1992 to
2000. I also helped in starting a faculty ministry serving among the lecturers
on campus alongside with the campus ministry and leading several mission trips
to rural areas in underdeveloped countries in South East Asia. In 2000, I went
to Philippines to do theological study and I obtained Master of Divinity from
the International School of Theology-Asia, Quezon City in 2003.
In 2014, I resigned
from the mission organization after serving on mission field for more than 20
years due to a physical ailment. After resting for about a year, I found my
current teaching job as a teacher in a church school in my hometown in Malaysia
where I now teach Bible Knowledge and English to grade 7-11 students since 2014.
A lot has changed since I left the nursing field 30
years ago to serve on mission field and I feel it is imperative to return to a
university nursing program to become current in the nursing science. The reason
I want to finish my career in nursing is that I can make a difference in
people’s lives by giving health care to them. I used to be sickly when I was young
and can understand how those who have, or have had, physical ailments feel
about themselves and life. I am sensitive to those who are frail and vulnerable.
However, being compassionate and helpful is not enough. I need to be re-qualified
and become current in nursing practices so that I can have a positive impact
providing compassion, comfort, and care for patients. Nursing school will equip me to be a better
nurse for a greater purpose to care for those who are in their time of need.
Spending majority of my life
serving in missions and working as a teacher has been rich in seeing many
changed lives but not so much financially for me. So, I have little savings to
draw from for this journey.
The total amount needed will
be $105,000. This will cover tuition, travel, health insurance, living expenses,
books, and so forth. I will enter the starting class in the fall of 2021 and
need to have the amount raised by the spring of 2021. I covet your daily
prayers for me, and, any ways you might be able to provide financial support.
Your generous support will make a difference not only in my life but also in
the lives of many others who will be under my care.
