The Society of the Blind in Malaysia is a non-religious, non- political, national voluntary organisation of blind individuals of all races and from all walks of life resident in Malaysia dedicated to the task of securing equal rights and opportunitie.
Objectives:
- To
encourage visually impaired persons in Malaysia to work for their mutual
socio-economic advancement and their common good.
- To
uphold the rights of blind people to live as participating and
contributing citizens of this country and promote their legitimate
interests
- To
promote communication and understanding among members
- To
promote sports and recreation for the blind
- To
monitor and/or assess services provided for the blind by government and
non-governmental bodies and other civil society movement
- To
advocate, present the considered views and recommendations of The Society
on matters concerning blind to relevant bodies
- To
co-operate with other organizations to achieve the objectives of The
Society
- To work
towards overcoming social barriers and to promote integration between
blind and sighted people
- To
promote the general well-being of the blind
