Share An Opportunity Philippines, Inc.

Share An Opportunity (SAO) Philippines, Inc. is a non-profit Christian organization founded on August 8, 1996. SAO Philippines advocates for children to enjoy their full potential, that is, when they feel protected and confident, and are allowed to express and promote their God-given identity. This becomes key in their participation towards nation building, helping them overcome the challenges of poverty, injustice, and building resilience in all of life. #SAOGIP Two fish and five loaves was all the disciples could give Jesus when he asked, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” It wasn’t even theirs – it belonged to a boy. The story, as John wrote it, mentioned how Jesus already knew what He is going to do, but asked the question because He wanted to teach his disciples a lesson. What about us, today? We all know how governments are overwhelmed by the global pandemic. Numbers do not mean a lot anymore, who can really count over 20 million cases anyway? Like its counterparts, Share An Opportunity (SAO) Philippines is faced with the same malady of shrunk budgets and the need to provide for its staff members – many of whom have worked with us for the past two decades! As we honor the faith and passion of our long-time workers in the community, we are asking friends and families of SAO PH to give to this cause. “SAOGIP: When the sharing the little we have feeds a multitude,” is testament to what our own two fish and five loaves can do when we are willing to give them to God. May the Lord bless us all today to see that He continues to feed a multitude through us, and may witnessing such a miracle multiply our courage to give!

Being compassionate is not about having money!
Three community based organizations (CBOs) working with SAO PH in Negros island initiated a relief distribution to 103 families in three barangays namely Bagumbayan, Tabao Proper and Central Tabao. Composed of 149 members, Central Tabao Vendors Association (CENTAVEA) and Bagumbayan Service to Progress Association (BASEPROA) delivered relief packs on March 27, while members from Tabao Proper Community Association (TAPROCOA) distributed relief packs on March 30, 2020. Despite meeting challenges with the community quarantine themselves, CBO members gathered around 20,000 pesos of their combined interest income to purchase rice, noodles, coffee and hand soap for distribution. They even shared an additional 3,500 pesos worth of emergency loan to several community members. It is worth mentioning that Mayor Enrique R. Miravalles recognized members of the Bagumbayan Central Proper (BCP) for serving as frontliners in manning the checkpoint. Using their own motorbikes, they even paid for their own gas and food. How heart-warming it is to see our CBOs’ selfless acts during this pandemic! May God strengthen you as you strengthen others. Remain blessed... “Saludo po kami sa inyo!”
