Walaa is a Gaza-Palestinian refugee who is in dire need of immediate financial relief. A mother of three young children (aged 2, 4 and 5 years old), she depends on her husband to put food on the table. Her home is mostly barren except for the large, dirty mattress the five of them sleep on. Without a washing machine, her hands are full of blisters from hand-washing clothes in a small sink. Electricity is cut off from time to time due to the lack of funds they have to pay it, forcing them to withstand humidity throughout the day. To give food to her children, Walaa often sacrifices her own meals for them. Unable to afford schooling for her children, Walaa fears they will have no future.
To top it all off, the motorcycle that her husband uses for work is in bad shape due to the several accidents it has faced through the years. It has caused him to meet 5 road accidents this year alone, and suffer a fractured shoulder- All their savings have been used up in medical fees. With no other choice, her husband is forced to take a Grab to work which accumulates to RM50 a day, taking further chunks out of their savings. Even worse, her husband earns RM1500 a month, but they are charged a whopping RM2400 every month for rent and bills, reducing them to a hopeless spiral of poverty.
No one deserves to live like this: Everyone deserves a clean and comfortable place to live in. Everyone deserves a right to education and a warm meal. With your donations of money, you can help turn this woman’s life around for the better!
We aim to raise RM24000 to help pull Walaa out of the poverty cycle and stand on her own two feet.
