The Sha Tin Rowing Center and the Jockey Club Shek Mun Rowing Center, which were built along the Shing Mun River, are also strongly attacked and affected by the super typhoon "Mangkhut " , part of the pontoons are severely damaged and the boathouses were flooded. The Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) had issued an urgent notice on the website that all courses and activities, including the training of the Hong Kong team and youth team, are cancelled. The pontoons at both Rowing Centres and other facilities are severely damaged, in case the pontoon could not be repaired, the estimated renovation and repair costs for both centers are around HK$6million. Since both centres are highly used by the Hong Kong team, university teams, clubs, schools and the public, the usage rate is around 400 people per day; closure of both centres will be seriously affected the regular training. Therefore, the HKCRA is now appeal for your support to rebuild our sports!
