Econusa Foundation

Yayasan Ekosistim Nusantara Berkelanjutan (EcoNusa Foundation) is a nonprofit organization aiming to promote sustainable and equitable management of natural resources in Eastern Indonesia by strengthening local initiatives.

Upon getting the formerly-used patrol ship by Conservation International, WWF, and TNC, EcoNusa restored her into a multipurpose phinisi ship so-called EcoXplorer. She is intended to provide assistance to local communities in Tanah Papua and Maluku islands as a local
commodity transporter, ecotourism supporter, research and education provider to the indigenous peoples living in the mainland and coastal areas while conserving forests and ocean natural resources.

EcoNusa aims to optimize the best practices of environmental protection and sustainable natural resources management based on equitable principles through concrete activities along with the local communities. The fact that some provinces in eastern Indonesia still live in poverty has called EcoNusa to take real actions to rid the locals from underprivileged lives. This goes in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 1 mission statement that commits to end poverty in all its forms everywhere.

We believe that the EcoExplorer mission here will also help ease the poverty alleviation among indigenous peoples and coastal communities particularly residing in Tanah Papua and Maluku islands. For this reason, we call for donations for EcoXplorer to run the missions for economic empowerment and poverty alleviation as her call of duty.
