The Chinese Cultural Association (CCA) is a charitable non-profit organization with IPC status (Institute of Public Character) that aims to preserve the vast knowledge of local Chinese wedding culture and introduce them to our community. We believe that the next generation should have a chance to understand the significance of our forefathers’ moral values, beliefs and commitment to family and society.
As a platform set up to promote cross cultural learning among Singaporeans of all races, the CCA endeavours to create a more harmonious society in our community today. By highlighting traditional Chinese cultural, the CCA shows how the evolution of these vibrant customs and practices over the past sixty years has resulted in a version that is uniquely Singaporean. Such distinction is evident when compared to traditions currently practiced in China or even in our neighbouring countries.
In an ever-modernising and cosmopolitan society such as Singapore, youths and the current generation of young adults are likely to risk losing their cultural heritage while becoming more sophisticated and in tune with technology. An appreciation and understanding of our cultural roots allows us to cultivate a sense of closeness with Singapore and her rich traditions.
