As part of MYGiving week, 3-8 December, I am participating in this BATTLE to raise funds for SUKA Society. I believe everyone deserves access to quality education. SUKA is a great charity that helps Orang Asli (indigenous) children living in remote areas gain access to early childhood education. As part of this fundraising challenge, my team has put in a few bids to see me embarrass myself!

My Story

Most Orang Asli (indigenous) children live in remote areas where access to education is severely limited. As such, many enter primary school with little or no ability to read, write and count. This puts them at a significant disadvantage right from the start. Therefore, it is not surprising that up to 75% of Orang Asli children will not complete their basic education.

SUKA Society is addressing this issue by empowering the indigenous community to start their own pre-school classes. They do this by training and equipping indigenous teachers who are recommended by their village leaders based on their strong desire to educate children. The teachers receive support and teaching resources to start their own pre-school classes. Using the project as a platform to initiate improvement, the teachers serve as catalysts for education and development in their respective villages.

Now for the DARES - in our townhall meeting last week, I have (in my wisdom) let my teams decide on my dares. So here are a few that were shouted out:

RM1000 - Do the spicy noodle challenge at the Christmas party

RM2000 - Do 3 shots of Jager bombs (for courage)

RM3000 - Wear a long curly wig...

RM4000 - Put on a Hula skirt or speedos at the Christmas party

RM6000 - Show dance with James!

RM8000 - Do all of the above!
