How much did you spend on coffee today?
Well, a team of Linklaters staff are going to be surviving on HK40 (a little over US$5) a DAY for food and drinks for three days from 14 - 16 October.
Why are they doing this?!
This is part of the Hungry for Change campaign. Refugees in HK are not allowed to work so they have no way to survive whilst they await the determination of their claims other than to rely on food supplied by the government.
But they don't get a food allowance - they get a bag of food, said to be worth HK40/day. So actually the real value is even less than HK40/day.
The campaign is about raising awareness of the conditions of refugees in Hong Kong, and at the same time raising funds for Justice Centre Hong Kong, a non-profit organisation which works to protect the rights of refugees and torture survivors.
Through simplygiving.com you can make safe and secure donations to sponsor us and the proceeds are immediately sent directly to Justice Centre.
