My Story

Support the SUKA society by making a donation today! Transparency matters: Funds are used to support the Empowered 2 Teach initiative that provides resources, trainings and support for the Orang Asli communities to start their own pre-school education classes within their very own villages. Every Ringgit Counts.

To give you a clearer picture, Orang Asli is a collective term (which means original peoples in Malay) for some 18 ethnic groups of approximately 150,000 in total who are widely regarded as Malaysia’s first inhabitants. Up to 75% of Orang Asli children do not complete basic education. Most Orang Asli children live in remote areas where access to education is severely limited. As such, many enter primary school with little or no ability to read, write and count. This puts them at a significant disadvantage right from the start, and therefore, the Empowered 2 Teach project by the SUKA society.
