My Story

Hi, my name is Rohgini from WWF-Malaysia. Elephants are the world's largest land animal and Malaysia is the home for the world’s smallest subspecies, the Bornean elephant. They are mostly found in Sabah with a small population in north Kalimantan. Our Bornean elephants are endangered. Due to previous land conversion and insufficient land use planning, their habitats are fragmented. While searching for food, they sometimes pass through populated areas and plantations, which causes human-elephant conflict. Sadly, they also lose their lives to poachers who hunt them for their ivory. Your donation will help WWF-Malaysia conserve our Bornean elephants by studying their movement and behavior so we can take steps to reduce human-elephant conflicts.
