My Story
My grandmother was my main caretaker when I was younger and she took good care of us (My siblings and I) when our parents are off to work. She always tell us to be responsible when we grow older and be a good example to others. She didn't wear high heels when she was working as a wet market vendor because stilettos to her are reserved for higher income individuals.
My mother on the other hand wore stilettos to work when we were younger, my father and herself worked really hard to provide shelter and food for us. I'm really fortunate to be where I am today because of them. She still wear stilettos to work not because of status, it's because they served as a reminder of how far she has achieved for herself and her family. She always told me to be strong and keep a clear mind.
I'm the eldest in my family but I'd to think that my sisters were the ones guiding and encourage me to be myself. Even though we have our differences in the past but they continuously impress me with their maturity and wisdom which motivates me to strive as a better role model.
I am really grateful for what these women has done in my life and I hate to see men abuse women to showcase their authority. Violence is not the way to resolve anything and women deserves the rights for respect from men because they're our mothers, grandmothers, sisters and partners. These donations you've made will directly contribute to Women's Aid Organization efforts to refurbish their shelters for abused women in Malaysia. I urge for you to donate for the well being of these women suffered from domestic violence. Since I'm not allowed to race, I'd like to give away my ticket to a female friend for a chance to win a pair of tickets to London at the High Heel Dash.
Thank you for reading my story and supporting Women's Aid Organization in Malaysia!
Sincerely,
Hanlim
