With this program the community mobilizes their own unused resources to improve health access and breakdown barriers between health facilities and community. We open doors to health access, give freedom from fear, worry and pain because we believe health is fundamental human right.Help us to help more people.

My Story

Garbage Clinical Insurance (GCI) is a micro health insurance program which uses garbage as a financial resource. With this program, the community pays clinical services by using garbage in an insurance scheme. This can make the community mobilizes their own unused resources to improve health access and breakdown barriers between health facilities and community members. We open doors to health access.

We offer individuals with low-income to submit their garbage to us. The waste is then weighed and separated and valued. The individual is then “paid” in the form of a medical health insurance: For as little as 0.77 USD per month, an individual is given access to healthcare, rehabilitative healthcare, basic free treatment, in-clinic counseling and laboratory checks, for example.

The main principle of Garbage Clinical Insurance is organizing communities to create sustainable financing from their own resources in order to improve the access and the quality of public health program from the promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects. On the other side, it becomes an incentive for the community to start a proper waste management and waste entrepreneurship from household level. To a certain extent, it also contributes to local sanitation improvement. Garbage Clinical Insurance increases garbage value exponentially,so Garbage Clinical Insurance empowers every individual to mobilize overlooked resources and take an active role in managing health financing.

Our team focuses on GCI developing stages for massive duplication through a scientific approach for this new garbage insurance scheme. The first one is initiation, new programs creation in other regions, then stabilization, ensuring the sustainability conservation and finally independence for the society. When developing this program, we have applied scientific aspects and conducted research to make it a role model or a reliable innovative micro-insurance. And our visions to develop this program are namely:
1) Massive Replication: GIC development stages for massive replication through initiation, stabilization, and independence.
2) Government Advocation: Through systematic and organized efforts gain support from government resources.
3) Education, Training, and Research activity: when developing this program, we require scientific aspects and research in order to make the referral program a role model or a reliable micro-insurance.
4) Role Model Development: continuously improving will be essential in order to be a role model program for replication
5) International Approaching: collaborate with international organizations to develop and expand the program through international management strategies.

We change the perception and habits of the community towards garbage with new innovative system of garbage insurance scheme. We promote health investments with garbage. With the additional funds from this opportunity, we will improve health services especially clinic facilities and buy some equipment to increase production capacity our processed garbage and also we will replicate Garbage Clinical Insurance program around city in Indonesia.
