About Event

CAKNE Kinabalu Challenge 2019 (CKC19) is an inaugural hiking event for a childhood cancer survivor to climb Mount Kinabalu ie. the  highest mountain in the Malay Archipelago as well as the highest mountain in Malaysia.

Organized by Persatuan Sokongan Kanser Kanak Kanak PPUKM (CAKNE) this challenge will be attempted from 9th to 12th November 2019 by Muhamad Rohaizad bin Roslan @ Ijad, a childhood cancer survivor. He will be accompanied by a team of 8 experienced hikers.

Ijad was born on 11th May 2000 as a normal healthy baby. However at 7 years old, after frequent & prolonged bouts of fever he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Regiment A . Ijad was then treated in the Pediatric Oncology ward of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (previously known as HUKM) for more than 3 years.

Alhamdulillah, Praise to the Almighty God, Ijad is now free from cancer for the past 7 years and currently is taking up culinary course at SMK Jalan Reko, Kajang.

As a teenager born into a family of sportsmen and women, Ijad took part in CAKNE Aqeelah Trail (CAT) charity hike in Gunung Datuk, Rembau, Negeri Sembilan for two consecutive years (CAT17 & CAT18). With the blessing and support from his parents and family members and after completing series of intensive training, Ijad is now ready to attempt the summit of Mount Kinabalu through the CAKNE KINABALU CHALLENGE 2019.

1. To demonstrate the survivorship of a childhood cancer patient

2. To inspire childhood cancer patients, their caregivers and general public on healthy lifestyle

The team of experienced hikers (as listed below) that is going to accompany Ijad's quest is led by Hajjah Noor Shamsiah bt. Maarof or more affectionately known as Ummi. She is a retired teacher and the mother of one childhood cancer warrior ie. Allahyarhamah Nurul Aqeelah after whom the annual charity hike CAKNE Aqeelah Trail (CAT) is named after.
