About Event

Last update: 12th December 2017

Over three days, from November 24th to 26th, 2017, AccorHotels teams from Asia and beyond cycled through the countryside of Cambodia, from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. They visited the beneficiaries of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) committed to raising awareness of and overcoming inequalities related to five Diversity & Inclusion pillars: disabilities, gender, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), generations and culture. They also lived a unique, culturally-enriching and interactive experience.

By committing to the ride, each team of three individuals is aspiring to raise a total of USD 10,000 until 31st December 2017. The majority of funds raised will be distributed by AccorHotels to these NGOs — Ecole Paul Dubrule and Friends-International — while a small minority of funds will cover the teams’ participation costs within Cambodia.

“Welcoming others, accepting and valuing their differences, acknowledging that we will be enriched by our contact with them, this is one of the founding principles of [AccorHotels]… One of our firmly held convictions is that when we are able to acknowledge diversity in others, we create the conditions that are conducive to their well-being and we foster the expression of their talent. It supports the individual performance as well as being in our common interest.” – Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO, AccorHotels and Arantxa Balson, Chief Talent & Culture Officer, AccorHotels.

TESTIMONIALS

“The experience was absolutely incredible, not only is it about challenging yourself through some tough terrain, but seeing beauty of the country side and of the communities along the way was simply stunning. The efforts being done by the NGO’s in the area is also amazing, knowing exactly what you are raising money for and seeing how it is being used just makes it all that sweeter.”

“We, as the Red Dot Chili Bernache team, were very proud to be part of such a fantastic experience. It has been 3 days of physical, emotional and friendly challenge during which we engaged with local population and local NGOs. We have seen with how much passion they were working hard to help their people and that was really heartwarming. It gave to this journey a real meaningful dimension!

From our bottom of our heart, thanks to everyone for their support, the funds we have collected will definitely be of a massive help for Cambodian population!”

“An amazing journey, full of emotions and great scenery.... but most of all a unique time to discover the beauty of Cambodia and its people!”

“What an amazing experience to see the Cambodian countryside and cycle through villages at the culmination of a busy period of fundraising for some excellent charities. It was great to meet with the charity teams and see how they are driving changes to benefit the local communities, learning that the government pay only less than a Starbucks coffee per child per year and to create clean drinking water at only $25. It made me proud to join 80 + colleagues on this experience and see how the money donated can quickly benefit a local community.”

“The AccorHotels amazing bike ride Cambodia 2017 was exactly as the title states: amazing! To be given this opportunity to see the Cambodian countryside and to visit small villages gave me a new perspective of this beautiful country. The ride was far from easy, especially since I didn't properly train for it. However, on top of supporting an important charity, being cheered on and receiving high fives from all the enthusiastic kids as we biked pass their villages, gave me the strength to make it to the finish line.”
