What makes life more meaningful is the ability to share one’s blessings amidst this pandemic. The fight continues! We are all still in the mood of battling an enemy we can’t barely see. We are like fighting in a battlefield with blindfolds in our eyes. But we can do more! I’m making a difference by spreading awareness and raising fund for a cause, for our frontline heroes who have been risking their lives to save other lives. Let us help defeat COVID-19 by one act of kindness. Donate now and save more lives!

My Story

Hi! I am Shiela Mae T. Canonoy, an authorized volunteer fundraiser advocate of UNICEF Philippines. I am a Registered Social Worker by profession, a part time financial advisor who helps in securing and protecting lives through financial literacy and management, and is working as government employee under one of the agencies of the Department of Justice (DOJ), with the goal to help the offenders redeem their lives, restore their relationships, help themselves and be a productive member in the society through community-based rehabilitation approach. So basically, all the things I am doing right now is not to earn a living solely but to put meaning and purpose in everything that I do. Protecting and ensuring the welfare and upholding the rights of every child is my top priorities. That is why it is such an honor to be part of UNICEF Philippines because the organization’s goals and advocacies are very  inclined to my heart. Hence, as part of UNICEF, one of my duties is to raise funds to support its programs. And this time, we are campaigning to accumulate monetary resources for our modern -day heroes- the healthcare workers

Who is UNICEF?
UNICEF stands for United Nations Children's Fund and was established in the aftermath of World War II to provide emergency relief to children affected by the war, no matter what country they were from. Today, UNICEF continues to work in the world’s toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children and adolescents—and to protect the rights of every child, everywhere. UNICEF began providing assistance to the Philippines in November 1948. Since then, it has been helping the Philippine government to strengthen national policies, programs and services to ensure that all Filipino children enjoy their rights.

Today, we are facing a global crisis and threats brought about by this COVID-19 pandemic, making every children and other vulnerable and disadvantaged sectors in the society more prone to this. However, it’s our healthcare workers in the frontlines who are risking their lives, sacrificing their health and even their families just to beat and help the infected people recover and be free from virus. It is our frontliners who courageously fight the unseen foe to prevent it from spreading and from destroying the lives of every Filipinos.  Everyday, as of the data provided by the Department of Health, the number of people stricken by the virus, including our healthcare workers is continuously increasing while the supplies of our health care facilities and health workers are concurrently deteriorating. With these, in order to defeat this pandemic it is always the rule of law to protect those who are capable of saving lives in their field of expertise in order to save more lives. Thus, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Disinfecting Supplies and Tents for triage at hospitals are what they need more today.

Good thing, in response to COVID- 19, UNICEF never failed to extend its support to our frontliners to help fight against the spread of this virus. Online platforms were maximized in order to continue with its mission for this “global emergency”. In fact, UNICEF has shipped:
4.27 million gloves
573,300 surgical masks
98,931 N95 respirators
156,557 gowns
12, 750 goggles

You too are a fighter!  And YOU can also make a difference by simply following all the preemptive measures and or the health and safety protocols against COVID-19. Also, by sharing your blessings, with YOUR act of generosity, with any amount taken from your heart is such a big thing. Your little but thoughtful act of kindness helps you to make a difference and makes you a part of becoming a blessing to others. This will help us together with UNICEF to provide the immediate needs of our frontline heroes. How long your donations will go? ·

Php 500.00= Disinfecting Supplies ·
Php 1,000.00= Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ·
Php 2,000.00= UNICEF Tent for Triage

I, as an advocate of UNICEF’s Program, I can attest that this platform is SAFE and SECURE. All donations made through this platform will go DIRECTLY to UNICEF Philippines’ Bank Account Remitted automatically by SimplyGiving.
