Cervical Cancer Screening

Did you know that cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in Malaysia and is the easiest gynecological cancer to prevent with regular pap smear tests, HPV vaccinations and follow-ups. NCSM recommend to get yourself vaccinated before you are sexually active and a pap smear test once every 3 years after you turn 20.

Always check with your doctor the risk of cervical cancer and how often you should be checked.

What is Cervical cancer?

Cervical cancer is a malignant tumour found in the tissues of the cervix. It occurs when abnormal cells in the cervix turn into cancer cells. The cancer cells break through the surface cells (epithelium) and into the underlying tissue (stroma) of the cervix.

At diagnosis, the cancer is often just within the cervix, but it may spread to tissues around the cervix (e.g. the vagina) or to other parts of the body.

About us:

Action Against Cancer (AAC) is an online crowdfunding event runs by a group of passionate students 
Our group have decided to organize an online campaign to spread and create public awareness about the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), a non-profit organization that provides education, care, support and services for people affected by cancer. Since the Covid-19 outbreak and followed by the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia, our group members came to aware that a lot of NGOs are facing difficulties in raising funds from their patrons to support their day-to-day operation. So, we had decided to lend a hand by creating an online crowdfunding campaign for NCSM. “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” ~ Winston Churchill

Our group objectives:

1) Long-term objectives
• Create public awareness about the non-profit organization.
• Educate public on the prevention, screening and early detection of cervical cancer through knowledge/education.

2) Short-term objectives
• Doing a good deed by raising funds to provide Cervical Cancer Screening for the needy and supporting the non-profit organization during COVID-19 pandemic period.
• Our group members able to increase their self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction by contributing to the society.
