My Story

Hi there! My name is Sydrah, and my friends and family know just how much I love arts. I started drawing since I was a kid and have spent growing up developing my own style. You can check out my page here:

During my time in Sydney, I met a refugee artist who is quite well-known for painting using coffee as a medium. I was so inspired, that I decided to give it a try, and who would have thought that I would soon discover my own niche as well!

If you haven’t known it already, World Refugee Day is celebrated on 20 June every year as a way to promote inclusivity and understanding of refuges around the world. So, as part of MSRI’s World Refugee Day Challenge 2016 initiative (which will be from 13-30 June), I will produce 1 coffee painting a day, for the entire of 18 days. If you like my work, you may feel free to contribute any amount deemed reasonable via this Simply Giving page. I’m pretty much selling art here, with the only difference being that the money being made will 100% go towards giving support to the refugee and asylum seeker communities living around the Klang Valley. Just to give you an example:

- Your RM50 donation can be used to buy basic groceries for one family.
- Your RM500 donation can be used to support one refugee with a chronic disease (heart problem, surgery, etc) in getting hospital treatment.

So here's how it works:

- If you donate RM15, you'll get a postcard with any of the paintings I made throughout this challenge printed on it.
- If you donate RM30 or above, you can request whichever painting you'd like to be on the postcard, together with a poem.

If you REALLY like my work, and are willing to donate RM200 and above, then you can select any of my artwork (large-sized) that you’d like to keep.
