My Story

On my last birthday, I asked for the pandemic to subside quickly so everything can return normal (so I can travel the world again), and health protection to all who are close to me. Little did I expect, 4 months later, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. My family, mentally & emotionally unprepared, was thrown to a very steep adjustment curve in learning how to cope, understand & accept, manage and care for dad's condition. Despite being grateful with dad's health progress so far through like-minded support group for caregivers & our oncologist's attention, I wondered how and if other cancer patients are getting the resources they need to help them cope.

So for my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to the National Cancer Society Malaysia. I've chosen this charity because their mission work is aligned to my renewed intention to advance care and support to cancer patients in overcoming the initial trauma of acknowledging they have cancer, providing an opportunity for them and their families to know the larger community of cancer survivors and getting them to be a part of that nurturing community. I am not aiming for a big fund raise but more to dedicate my personal appreciation to the works and effort done by the organization to create awareness to caregivers and patients in managing cancer.  

I still wish to travel soon when everything subsides, but this time with my dad together.. :)
