We are working with many other NGO in order to get the funds as fast as possible. If you want more details about the children, the disease or the others associations, please have look to our website : https://www.tinygoldheartsproject.com and SHARE SHARE SHARE as much as possible !
1) Mercy Bless, is an 8 months old baby girl from Myanmar. She is the second daughter to a young refugee in their 30s. They are originally of a Kachin ethnicity. They came to Malaysia in 2010 due to the conflict in their home country. Her father worked in a restaurant and used to earn RM1400 per month to make ends meet. However, the restaurant has closed down and he has lost his job since the start of MCO. The wife is at home taking care of Mercy and her first daughter who is now 4 years old. Mercy is diagnosed with Moderate Ventricular Septal Defect with a Small Atrial Septal Defect and requires an immediate surgery to repair her VSD. She is scheduled to do the surgery at IJN (Institut Jantung Negara) as soon as the funds are collected. Her surgery costs around RM50,000. When asked what their hopes are for Mercy, they said “We hope that our daughter will have her surgery very soon so she can live a long and happy life just like any other child”.
2) Zain Ahmad is an 8-months old baby boy from minority group in Pakiskan, the youngest out of three siblings. Currently, the father earns about RM1200 monthly with RM550 goes to rent and about RM500-600 goes to food. Zain is diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), Small Atrial Septal Defect, Small Patent Foramen Ovale and Small Patent Ductus Arteriosus. He is in need of an immediate intracardiac surgery to repair his heart. The surgery is estimated to cost around RM50,000 and it will be done at IJN as soon as the funds are ready. When asked what the parents hoped for their child, they replied "safety, health and better future for my children ''.
3) Mehm Layih Ong is a 6 year old boy from Myanmar. He is the second child to a refugee couple who came to Malaysia in 2009. Before MCO, father used to work as a dishwasher, but he has lost his job since then. He used to earn around RM1300 per month which was enough for their house rent and food expenses. Mehm is diagnosed with Williams Syndrome with Supravalvular Aortic Stenosis and in need of immediate surgery to fix the Arch of the Aorta. His surgery is estimated to cost around RM60,000. The surgery will be done at IJN as soon as the funds are ready. When we asked the parents what their hopes are for Mehm Layih, they said “We hope that our child will grow up to become a doctor and help those in need, especially refugees in the camps. He can only achieve that if he is given a second chance in life and to fix his heart.”
4) Anish Ahmad is an 8-years old boy from Pakistan. He is the eldest out of two siblings. He left his home for Malaysia in 2016. After gathering much needed resources and with the help of UNHCR, the family soon followed him to Malaysia in 2019. Due to MCO, he has no source of income and is surviving on borrowed money and is about to be evicted by his landlord. The family is surviving from friends' assistance for food and the children could not afford to go to school. The father explains Anish will always wake up crying and in pain and have not had enough sleep. Anish is diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot- SEVERE, Pulmonary Atresia, MAPCAs (Major Aorto Pulmonary Collateral Arteries). His surgery is estimated to cost around RM50,000 at IJN as soon as the funds are ready. When asked about the father’s hope, he said, "I pray for my children's health and hope they will have a better life than I can give them. Life is very hard for us, but the most important thing is health. I cannot bear to see my child in pain everyday"
5) Mohamad Haikal is a 4-year old refugee boy from Myanmar. His father does different odd jobs in order to make ends meet. However, he has lost his income since the start of MCO. Haikal is diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease with Tetralogy of Fallot, Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAs - Major Aorto Pulmonary Collateral Arteries. TGH P has raised funds to cover his first 1st cardiac catheterization and Bilateral PDA stenting that was done on 22nd June 2020 at IJN. Now, he needs a 2nd Cardiac Catheterization and CT of the Pulmonary Artery to look for branch pulmonary growth after the 1st stenting. This is to determine if he can proceed to his next major surgery after the 1st stenting. His surgery will cost approximately RM20,000 at Institut Jantung Negara. Haikal’s parents wish for nothing but good health for their son so he can grow up to become a healthy boy, go to school, have friends and achieve his dreams.
6) And baby Joshua is a 7-month old boy from Pakistan. The family came to Malaysia to seek refuge in 2015. The father does odd jobs to pay rent, food and other family expenses. Joshua is diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease with Ebstein Anomaly and Pulmonary Atresia. TGHP has raised funds and has done the first Cardiac Catheterization and Bilateral PDA Stenting on 22nd July 2020. He now requires a second Cardiac Catheterization to determine if he can proceed to his next major surgery which is The Glenn Shunt Procedure. The estimated cost is RM20,000 and it will be done at IJN. Joshua’s parents hope that their son will receive good treatment and surgeries so he can grow up to be healthy, go to school and dream of big dreams just like other children.
4/12/20, Dear donators, long time since I gave you some news. my apologize. All babies we had helped so far, they are all doing well and growing very fast, like they were challenging themself to recover any time lost ! please, have a look to the last picture, the family sent us.
Now, we need to help some new child. A baby called : Mehm Layih Ong, (1/02/2015) from Myanmar. He was born with a Congenital heart disease : William's Syndrome. He has a partial block of the big artery that comes out of the heart. Beginning of December, he did the scan in HKL to see what's wrong in her little heart. We are waiting for IJN advices.
the 20/06/20, I told you about Baby Haikal. He needs a 2nd operation. IJN wants to do an other cardiac catheterization to see if last major op can be done. Cardiac cath and CT PA to look at the branch pulmonary growth post pda stenting. See whether they have grown. Only well grown pa can go for surgery. We need 20 K to do it.
22/08/20, Our babies are doing well. We will soon take care of an other little one who need us. We all thanks you so much for your help, without you, all those babies couldn't survive. See you soon.
30/07/20, Nur Khatijah is doing very well. She is under Pace maker for life and need to change it every 10 years but she will have a normal life as others kids. This tuesday, she went back to Hospital Sultanah Aminah in Johor Bahru. Thanks to you. TGHP funds has been able to help with the last bill in Gleneagles who was quite expensive because of some complications Khatijah had to face the last 3 weeks.
Joshua, is doing well too, went back home this monday. Look at his lovely face ! its all because of you ! Thanks everyone for your readiness to help all TGHP babies. They are all gratefull to you.
23/07/20, Joshua will most probably will be discharged out home or to HKL tomorrow or Monday.
It was a success because he does not need the drug Prostin anymore. 1 vial of Prostin cost RM 1000. Dr Mazeni, the interventional cardiologist however, could not open the pulmonary valve because of misalignment. The Dr abandoned the stenting procedure because it had a high risk of puncturing the artery. Currently, he is in ICU still intubated because they want to stabilise his wet lungs.
Dr Leong is very optimistic about this case. We need another procedure between 6 months to 12 months. That is to enlarge his right heart by doing some refashioning of the right ventricular muscles because right now it has no connection and they could not open the pulmonary valve.
But for the time being, the team will take some much needed time off from taking any new cases 😅
Thank you to our sponsors, donors, sharers and friends!
18/07/20,Our litlle girl, Khatijah is doing fine. Still on temporary pace maker but she's eating well to get stronger. Her mummy is with her.

11/07/20:Baby Joshua is a 1 month old Pakistani refugee boy who suffers from congenital heart disease, Ebstein Anomaly with pulmonary atresia, since he was born. His family fled the prosecution in Pakistan and came to Malaysia to seek refuge in 2015. He is currently relying on a drug Prostin to keep his heart working at HKL in ICU. He needs the surgery as soon as possible. This surgery is only the first part which will enable him to survive without the medication. IJN is waiting for us to get 40 000 RM to do the surgery. We need you.

So far she is Hospitalised for heart failure and need nasal oxygen in Sultanah Aminah Hospiatl in Johor Bahru. She need Surgical correction needed urgently. This surgery have good outcomes if done before 6 months of age. The surgeon will close the two holes (ASD and VSD) and create two atrioventricular valves to replace the single valve.
Her family have been refugees in Malaysia for the past 7 years, there are form Myanmar. She has two older siblings. Her mother is a housewife and her father does odd jobs to survive. Surgery will take place at Gleneagles Hospital KL. Nur Khatijah needs to be admitted immediately as soon as we reach the target amount. Surgery will cost around RM60 000. Gleneagles offer for the surgery, RM20 000. We need RM40 000. Thanks for your help and sharing.

Haikal did very well and on Saturday 26th, all the family have been together again. He must now wait for his 2nd stage surgery if all goes well with his lung.
15/06/20, We keep hoping to get the funds for our little Haikal. During that time, Dr Gladys help those unfortunates to get through the Covid hard time. And always keep an eyes on previous cases with Medicine and vitamins. On pictures you can see Mohammad Kasim (surgery done in February 2019). He was born with only single ventricle (instead of 2), tricuspid atresia (rare malformation which explain single ventricle), Transposition of the great arteries (TGA, a common congenital heart malformation) involving inversion of the two great vessels (aorta and pulmonary artery).

Tiny Gold Heart Project was created from an obvious need in the refugee community. Our volunteer doctor from Malaysia is regularly faced with vulnerable children that need corrective heart surgery that should have been identified at birth. So instead of turning them away to suffer and die in silence she created Tiny Gold Heart Project, a not for profit project completely run and managed by volunteers. Our team consists of 1 doctor, 2 international registered nurses, refugees motivated to help their communities, Malaysian volunteers and students.
Our focus is helping vulnerable children with congenital heart disease who need cardiac surgery. We help the family navigate the medical system by escorting them to hospital and providing a translator, whilst supporting them emotionally during this stressful and unpredictable process.
Without community and corporate donations we simply do not have the financial capacity to pay any medical costs for the children and the expensive cardiac medical procedures are not obtainable by a stateless child or refugee family.
Our commitment to our donators is the reassurance that every ringgit is going to the child and family avoiding wastage of precious resources on administration. We will provide regular updates on the child’s health status via our Facebook page, Simply Giving site, email, direct phone call as per the donors request or in our new webpage : https://www.tinygoldheartsproject.com
Our hope is that our donors feel connected to the cause and the child their donation has helped.
There is always a high risk with any kind of cardiac surgery. If the surgery can be done whilst the patient is still young this will greatly lower the risk for them and give them a better quality of life earlier.

Aude Savard " I'm a french nurse working in Malaysia since 2017 with refugees. I like to provide people with the means to take care of themselves. As refugees, many of them don't have the education or financial possibilities, I try to give them the boost needed to regain dignity, autonomy, hope ".
