On December 30, 2021 Edo was sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in prison.
Together, we already raised $1,150 to support Edo in fighting the battle of being incarcerated in Indonesia. 100% of the funds raised so far directly assisted Edo during the first six months he spent in detention in the lead up to his trial in December. Your financial support provided him with basic provisions in detention, enabled him to secure more humane conditions, supported family visits, and facilitated his access to HIV and other essential medication, as well as legal counsel. Edo, his family and friends are deeply thankful to everyone who has donated to help him through these challenging times.
But Edo still has 28 months to go in incarceration. People are often easily forgotten by the judicial system in Indonesia, so it is vital for us to act now to ensure his living conditions are adequate and his access to medication and nutrition are ensured while he remains in detention.“I just want come back home healthy and alive,” Edo said. “Thanks so much to everyone who already donated. These funds made a big difference for me. After almost six months in detention prior to my trial and the last month in isolation due to COVID-19, I lost 10 kg and my HIV viral load increased … Using the money you raised, my family was able to buy me asthma medication and other essential medications and vitamins. I was also able to move to a cleaner and less crowded prison block and purchase additional food to get better nutrition.”
Edo needs our ongoing help to survive and stay healthy. Based on his estimated costs during the previous six months, we aim to raise $300 a month for the next 28 months, amounting to a total of $8,400, to provide for his essential needs in detention. The funds will directly support Edo by aiding his access to essential medicines like antiretroviral treatment and asthma medication, family visits, legal counsel to explore options for early release, and provision of food, adequate living conditions, and other basic needs while he is in detention.
