Early July, my mum and her friends made a trip into Kampung Sungai Magandai after hearing of a fire that burn down Masnih’s home along with 5 neighbouring houses. Donations in kind like food, kitchen & household items, and clothing were handed over to Masnih and the other families affected.
Some of you may know the story of Kampung Sungai Magandai, of which I was involved with filming the story of the Solar Grandmother whom embarked on a 6-month trip to India to learn to install solar panels, which in turn will help power up her village. This fire has affected their community deeply, and I am trying to do what I can to help from afar.

After discussions with the head of the village Jabal, he recommended that instead of collecting the money and just passing it to them, we instead use the funds to purchase building materials for the families who need their homes rebuilt. As of now, mum has raised RM9,000 f, and I’m trying to play my part by trying to raise RM5,000 more to hit the target needed to rebuild these homes. Mum will then coordinate with the head of the village on the distribution of these materials.
