About Appeal

At the Singapore Red Cross, our mission is protecting human life and dignity by reliving human suffering. We are involved in providing humanitarian services that are not readily available to the vulnerable, and are not publicly funded.

Today, over 20,000 Singapore residents are cared for by the Singapore Red Cross. Through our community services, we uplift disadvantaged individuals and families, and those who fall through the cracks of social service.

Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak over the past year and ongoing, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) continued to provide aid targeted at providing support and relief.

Throughout the pandemic, our volunteers have made sure to continue providing psychosocial support to our beneficiaries through home visits and telephone calls, monitoring their mental well-being. To safeguard our volunteers, fundraisers and staff who were actively serving the community across a spectrum of essential services, SRC had provided sanitation kits to each of them.

While restrictions on the safe distancing measures are gradually easing, SRC has also been ramping up on both online and offline community engagement activities.
How Your Donation Help Our Seniors
With much thanks to all of your collective efforts in 2020, we managed to distribute care packages, which covered 1,000 seniors across SRC’s ElderAid, Medical Chaperone/TransportAid, and Home Monitoring and Eldercare (HoME+) services.

In consideration of the beneficiaries’ varied needs, the care package comprised a mixture of food, medical, hygiene and household items. The contents of each package were carefully curated based on their feedback and are customised for each elderly to cater to their most immediate needs.

Following the customised care package initiative introduced in 2020, SRC has continued with a monthly distribution of essentials (medical, hygiene, food and household supplies) to 220 seniors.

“The elderly rarely open up to strangers about the dire situation they are in… More often than not, the seniors want to be heard… As the elderly live on their own without anyone taking care of them, I felt I had the responsibility of gently reminding them of the importance of maintaining good hygiene and complying with social distancing measures,” - Ravis Cherry Tan, ElderAid Volunteer
