May was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer last July 2024. She’s only 36 and it came as a shock to us all. The treatment seemed straightforward. Get a lumpectomy to remove the cancer cells and do radiation therapy for a few weeks post the operation. However, the surgery revealed that the cancer had already moved to her lymph nodes meaning that it has started to spread. As such, she would need a more aggressive treatment. She has to undergo 16 rounds of chemotherapy over a span of 20 weeks before undergoing radiotherapy. It is not yet known how long she'll have to undergo radiotherapy for as it would depend on what her state will be after the chemotherapy.
May has taken her diagnosis with strength. She is a kind and gentle soul whose spirit loves spending time with children. We would want nothing more than for her to beat cancer and continue living a fulfilling life.
We, her employers, have supported May through this journey and will continue to support her in her battle against cancer. However, the path to recovery is long so May has made the difficult decision to go back to the Philippines to continue her treatment and be surrounded by her daughter and other family members.
While the medical insurance has covered the costs of the surgery and two rounds of chemo, it won’t be covering the bigger part of her treatment as it will have been past what can be covered under the policy. A single round of chemotherapy costs around $1,000 while radiation therapy can go between $25,000 - 30,000 depending on treatment here in Singapore. We are committed to supporting May and helping her find ways to fund her cancer treatment and life back in the Philippines. These treatments will undoubtedly change her life and, hopefully, give her more good years to spend with her daughter and other loved ones.
May, her daughter and we would be eternally grateful for your donation. Every donation makes a difference. Thank you very much for kindness and generosity.
