Following the devastation of Cyclone Fani, Habitat for Humanity has immediately mobilised to help the affected populations in India and Bangladesh.
When a disaster strikes, the loss of a home leaves families at their most vulnerable. Families will need shelter and safe water in order to survive the coming weeks.
Make a donation to support families whose lives have been devastated by Cyclone Fani.
Fani was the strongest storm to hit India in 20 years. At least 38 people were killed following the storm which hit India on Friday 3rd May. Storm surges and intense winds have decimated communities in India, with more than 20,000 homes damaged and entire villages submerged.
In Bangladesh more than 13,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed, with severe flooding in at least 36 villages. At least 12 people died and the weather continues to be an issue, hampering recovery and rescue.
In both countries, houses have been washed away or are still under water, making it impossible for families to return home. Those who were living in poverty are likely to be the worst effected.
Habitat for Humanity is responding to the disaster in India and Bangladesh. In the wake of a disaster Habitat, with the help of volunteers and donors like you, provide home repair kits and temporary shelters for families left homeless. We provide water purification kits to ensure that families have access to clean and safe water. We help rebuild communities, moving them from ruin to recovery.
Donations are needed urgently to fund our work in the immediate aftermath of this devastating disaster, and beyond.
