On the evening of Friday, September 28, 2018, the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia was struck by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake, triggering a tsunami, with waves reaching up to six meters in some areas. The tsunami swept a path of destruction through the resort city of Palu, Donggala and the surrounding area. As of October 2, at least 1350 people are confirmed dead with the death toll expected to rise.
