Severe monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding across South Asia, affecting more than 40 million people in Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. The continuous flooding damaged or destroyed over 800,000 houses across the region. It also has affected electricity and water supply in the areas and raised concerns on water-borne diseases.
Habitat for Humanity Asia-Pacific, in partnership with Habitat offices in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh, is responding to the disaster. Unfortunately, because there has not been much global media attention, aid for this devastating disaster has been limited, which in turn delays the help that the affected families urgently need. Many of the families are still waiting for aid to come.
As part of Habitat's emergency relief activities, it has assisted over 1,500 families affected by the massive floods in South Asia. Through your donation, Habitat for Humanity will be able to continue providing emergency relief such as shelter repair kits and sanitation and hygiene kits. Your contribution will also help in the recovery and reconstruction of affected communities, through rebuilding homes and disaster preparedness training.
Please make a contribution to help our neighbors in South Asia. Thank you.
