My Story

Please support the Sulawesi macaques at Tasikoki until they are able to be released to a suitable habitat.
Hey folks, we need your ongoing support, especially as we are receiving less and less volunteers in Indonesia.
Various hurdles, both technical and political are preventing us from getting any approval on a release site for various groups of Macaca nigra, Macaca nigrescens, Macaca hecki and Macaca maura, which now in total already number more than 100 individuals.  Apart from a few births in our critically endangered M.nigra group, all the macaques at Tasikoki have been rescued as illegal pets, likely taken into captivity when their mothers were trapped/shot and eaten.
Tasikoki needs support to feed and care for these monkeys through rescue, quarantine, health screening, restoring health conditions, rehabilitating monkey behaviour and socialising into suitable groups, without any financial support from conservation organisations or primate welfare groups (they either do not support rescue centres or Sulawesi primates).  Tasikoki only has two fulltime keepers to manage all these monkeys in its primate centre and a daily feeding cost in the region of $120/day, that is $3,600/month, despite all that we forrage for onsite.  Therefore we are trying to raise for the annual cost of $50,000 including keeper costs. If we can succeed to get 1000 donations of $50, then we have a chance to focus efforts on the release programmes instead of struggling to care for the population on-site.  If anyone is able to make a larger contribution over $2,000, then please contact Tasikoki directly via donate@tasikoki.org
Many thanks for your support, in donating and sharing our cause amongst your friends and family.
A separate fundraiser will be published soon to directly support the release projects for M.nigra and M.nigrescens which are on the horizon.
