Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world and lacks a functioning system to care for those who are unable to care for themselves. Prisoners and their children are amongst the most vulnerable groups in Nepal: when a parent is in prison, and there is no family member to care for the children, these children either end up on the streets, at great risk of being trafficked or forced into child labour, or they accompany their parent into prison where they face grave conditions such as malnutrition, illness and violence. I'm endeavouring to walk the Camino di Francesco and make a difference by raising funds to support the mental health and psychosocial wellbeing of these children. Please donate generously.

My Story

I will be leaving for Italy next week on my very first Camino — Camino di Francesco.

Today it dawned upon me that I can pledge this virgin journey to raise funds for the wonderful humanitarian missions of The Red Pencil (International). The Red Pencil (International) needs funds to provide a year long art therapy intervention mission for the rescued children imprisoned with their incarcerated parents.

These children often experience emotional, physical and sexual abuse resulting in many facing relationship and identity issues.  They have difficulties relating with other children and caregivers due to their low self-esteem and separation anxiety.

I am really looking forward to do the walk.  The first route on 17th May 2018 titled - The Certainty of Forgiveness - will be from Rieti --> La Foresta --> Poggio Bustone totalling 18km and the 2nd walk on 18th May tiled - The Gift of Family -  Rieti --> Fonte Colombo --> Greccio measures 20km.  I'm quite a sedentary person, save the little bit of gardening and landscaping hobby I indulge in.  This Camino will certainly be a challenge for me to endeavour.

I am humbled and thankful for the possibility of being able to make a little difference to someone. It is gratifying knowing you will support......
