“ Set the bar high !” is what our beloved teacher Lily taught us, the bilingual classes of CM1 C&D of the French International School of Hong-Kong.
Thanks to Lily ( our English teacher) and Aline (our French teacher) we did our best to achieve academic excellence despite this troubled 2019/2020 year marked by protests in the city and more than 4 months of homeschooling due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
When Lily’s 6-years old son Alfie was recently diagnosed with aplastic anemia (bone marrow disease), we decided to challenge ourselves in solidarity with what Alfie and Lily’s family are going through.
We are 19 CM1 C &D students willing to overcome our fears, train hard and complete an almost 2.5km open water swim in solo or in 2-kids relay around Middle Island, on
Saturday 11thJuly 2020.
has not dented our determination - we had faced a few storms recently but
continued with our swim and were rewarded by rainbows. You can follow the
progress of our intense trainings on our blog: https://cm1swimchallenge.wixsite.com/mysite
Aplastic anemia is an autoimmune disease in which the body fails to produce blood cell in sufficient numbers. Blood cells are produced in the bone marrow by stem cells that reside there.
The proceeds of our fundraising efforts will be directed towards Lily’s family to support directly and indirectly Alfie’s medical treatment.
We welcome all donations through this SimplyGiving website (a small fee will be deducted from your donation, for the service provided by SimplyGiving), or directly to Alfie's family’s account if possible:
