St. Mary's Agape Mission School

St Mary’s Agape Mission School is a UNHCR partner school for refugee children. Aside from providing education to the children, the school also provides care and assistance to more than 60 refugee families. On 18 March 2020, the Malaysian Government implemented the Movement Control Order (MCO) in order to slow the spread of Covid-19. While the partial lock-down is undoubtedly a necessary measure, it has serious implications on the livelihood and even the survival of our families.

Without the legal right to work, most of our refugee families live a hand-to-mouth existence where the adults eke out a living as itinerant, daily wage workers. With the country being in partial lock-down most of our families are now without income and facing destitution. The school has already started delivering essential supplies to several families to tide them over until they are able to earn a living again.

However, with the extension of the MCO to 14 April 2020, we will need to provide food to most of our families as well as financial assistance to help with rent payments and other emergencies.

We now seek your help to raise RM 30,000 to feed our families and to ensure that they have a roof over their heads. With 63 families under our care, RM30,000 will provide each family with a little under RM120/week for a month. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
