PKPKM Sabah

PKPKM Sabah was registered in 2011 as an NGO working to provide stateless and marginalized children in Sabah with education. The children come from different groups but a majority of the chlildren are Bajau Laut's - a nomadic people living on the sea. However, as things changes in the world the Bajau Laut's does not longer have the same possibilities to live at sea as before. This has forced many to settle down alongside the coast of eastern Sabah and today it is estimated to be about 30.000 stateless children there. The Bajau Laut's are stateless and therefore lack of documentation which gives them the right to get education, medical care etc. PKPKM Sabah is a registered organization and our prime goal is to provide these children with education so that they have a chance to a better future, both for themselves but for their communities over all. Out projects are part of Malaysia's Education for All (EFA) policy and registered at the Register of Societies as well as the Education Department of Sabah. WWF has developed a a compendium for PKPKM Sabah which we are to use to educate the children about the marine life and sustainable use of the it, since they live close to the ocean as well as live off the ocean o a large extent. This work is however to be developed and implemented further! What we are looking for are potential sponsors that could help us fund our projects so that they can keep running! The cost of our education is among the lowest in Malaysia with only RM50 a month or RM500 per year, per child.
